You are to write a short reflection about one of the three pictures.  Use your knowledge from your reading in your book, on the Internet, and from the United Streaming video watched.  Make sure you use capital letters and correct punctuation.  You can make the image larger by clicking on it.

Cyber Bullying

In social studies, you did several things to learn more about cyber bullying.  I believe that cyber bullying is one of the most harmful kinds of bullying for middle school students.  What did you learn?  How prevalent is cyber bullying among your friends and other students at Dickerson?  What can you do to protect yourself from being bullied?  Remember, do not use names in your responses.

We talked about the rights you believe that teenagers should have.  Discuss here why you believe you don't have them.  What would happen if you were given the rights that you said you should have?

Favorite Children's Book

You will write a children's book as your major assessment for the Revolutionary War period in Georgia history.  You will have several choices about format and type of book you write and will get information about this in the future. I would like to know what your favorite children's book is.  Also, tell me why you like it. 

I have three favorite books--Green Eggs and Ham, Go Dog Go, and The Cat in the Hat. As a child, I would sit for hours listening to my dad read these and other books to me.  I can even ask him today about the books, and he'll start to recite them; it is a joke in our family now.  Last Christmas, I was at my brother's house ,and my 3 year old nephew, Britton, sat down beside me holding Go Dog Go.  I thought he wanted me to read it, but then I realized that his father, my brother, had read it so often to him that he had it memorized.  He laughed and laughed as he "read" it to me.  I love the fact that another generation has experienced the joy of reading with a parent.
