Assignments for Monday, May 14 - We took the open note final exam review quiz for questions 61-90 in class.  We then discussed chemical equations and why they need to be balanced.  We read an article on balancing equations and then practiced on about 5 problems.  Class 6 - you are finishing these up for homework.  Worksheet  - other classes.

Tuesday, May15, 2007 - We checked homework at the beginning of class.  We worked on balancing equations and identifying types of chemical bonds.  Final exam review quizzes for sections 2 and 3 were returned.  HW:  numbers 91 - 120 on final exam review sheet.

Wednesday, May 16, 2007 - quiz on 91 -120.  We will go over any questions that you have on the review sheet.  Today, we will work on positive and negative charges of atoms.  HW:  complete the final exam review sheet.  There will NOT be a quiz on this section but I will do a spot check to be sure that you are finished.

Thursday, May 17, 2007 - We will go over the last section of the final exxam review sheet and I will check to be sure that it is done.  You will have some time to review for the exam, but before we do that we will talk about exams and some ways to study for larger amounts of material.

Assignments for Monday, May 7 - Today I returned Ch 14 test, lab and worksheets.  We began presenting our oceanography group projects.  We also began our Chemistry unit - we took notes over the structure of the atom.  I handed out a worksheet that will be due on Wed.  Please be sure to read the information on pages 2 and 3 of the packet.  Remember, you have a periodic table in your agenda that will be very handy.  HW:  numbers 1- 30 on your final exam review sheet are due tomorrow.  Numbers 31 - 60 are due on Thursday.

Tuesday, May 8, 2007 - completed oceanography presentations.  We checked the review sheet (1 - 30). If there is time we will begin talking about the differences among elements, compounds and mixtures.  Remember, the WS passed out in class on Monday will be due tomorrow.

Assignments for April 30 to May 4, 2007

Monday, April 30 - in class today  we worked on the GRWKBK for CH 14 for 15 minutes and then began an in-class project.  Groups were assigned and worked on developing a creature that could live in one of the ocean zones because of various adaptations.  In addition to having some 3-D part, groups also have to give their creature a Latin name based on its body and adaptations and a "regular" name.  Check your sheets carefully to be sure that all requirements are met.  Worksheets for CH 14 are due on Tuesday.

Tuesday, May 1 - I will collect worksheets at the beginning of class.  We will take a few minutes to go over any questions from the GRWKBK.  The remainder of class will be spent working on the project.  Short test on  CH 14 on Wednesday.

Wednesday - May 2 - Test on CH 14.  Complete creature project after the test.  PLEASE REMEMBER - you must be able to explain WHY it looks and acts as it does based on where it lives so check your facts about the zone!  No HW tonight.

Thursday, May 3 - Present creatures in class today - defend his adaptations!  When we finish, we will begin our study of chemistry with a short reading on water.  After that, we will have a quick review of the structure of an atom.

Friday, May 4 - we will continue working on chemistry.  Our main concentration today will be looking at elements and how they "fit" in the Periodic Table.

CLASS 7 - because of Performing Arts we will not meet class 7 on Tuesday.  We will work in class on Monday to be sure that we cover everything that we need to cover for the test on Wednesday.  WE will begin on the creature after the test - I do want your class to do this activity.

Also. a good number of students will be out on Friday.  I will give you assignments before you leave.  I hope that you have a safe and fun trip.  For those of you at school on Friday, we will be doing academic work - but we will try to make it fun as well as helpful.
