Assignments for Friday, April 25, 2008

In class today, we discussed Zell Miller and the Atlanta Olympics.  Class 2, since we will not meet again before the social studies CRCT, I have put the questions from the worksheet that we did in class at the bottom of this page. You don't have to answer the questions to turn in, just read the pages and go over the questions carefully.  I have given out copies of a CRCT review on GA government.  I will grade this as a quiz - so be sure and use you book to look up any answers that you are not certain of!  Have a wonderful week-end.

Read "Zell Miller" on pages 478 and 479.

1.  List the political offices held by Zell Miller in GA.

2.  List the 4 areas that Gov. Miller worked to improve during his tenure.

3.  HOPE stands for___________.

4.  Other than college scholarships, what else does HOPE money support?

5.  How are all programs under the HOPE umbrella financed?

Read "GA Hosts the Olympics" on pages 479 and 480.

1.  Other than Atlanta which other GA cities hosted Olympic events?

2.  Name four benefits GA received from hosting the Olympics.

3.  List four areas in which GA was criticized during the Olympics.

4.  Write the definition of infrastructure.

Today in class we reviewed for CRCT's.  We went over homework and began looking at the CRCT practice test that you took in class on Tuesday.  We did a review sheet in class on GA citizenship and checks and balances in the government, checked homework on the Civil Rights movement and began to go over the physiographic regions of our state.  Hopefully, you finished the worksheet in class and you have no homework!  Classes that will meet tomorrow after CRCT's are 6, 3 and 2.

Presentations were finished today!  I have been so impressed with all of the information that you included.  Tests were returned.  We did a quick review on the Paleo, Archaic, Mississippian and Woodland Indians and the beginning of European settlement.  Homework:  a quick worksheet on GA symbols (due Mon. - the word find is not required, it is for fun or frustration).  Also, remember that your CH 12 sections 3 and 4 test is on Monday.  I hope that you have a wonderful week-end!
