Assignments for Friday, February 29, 2008

Open note quiz on Chapter 9 section 2 today.  Everyone had the opportunity to read their "infomercial" about how the Confederates could become US citizens after the Civil War.  I gave out an extra credit assignment for those who wanted to do it.  It will be due on Wed (3-5) and is a timeline.  If you were absent and are interested, see me on Monday.  HW:  Worksheet on the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.  I hope that you have a wonderful week-end - see you Monday!

Assignments for Thursday, February 28, 2008

We discussed Georgia during the early days of Reconstruction today.  We used the reading handout that I gave you last week and practiced selective highlighting again.  Be sure to know about the Brush Arbor Rally and the Camilla Massacre.  We then checked homework.  For tonight, you will answer seven questions about various Reconstruction plans and then write a one minute radio advertisement explaining how Confederate veterans could gain a parole - you were given a worksheet with the questions and directions.  You will have a short quiz tomorrow on chapter 9 section 2 - you will be able to use any notes that you have on this quiz.  See you tomorrow!

Assignments for Wednesday, February 27, 2008

We began discussing chapter 9 today - focusing on Reconstruction - then a quiz covering the vocabulary for Chapter 9 sections 1 and 2.  Homework:  Worksheet given out at the end of class on Reconstruction, also begin reading chapter 9 section 3.  Remember, test on Chapter 9 next Wednesday.

Assignments for Monday, February 25, 2008

I checked the vocabulary for 9:1 and 2 at the beginning of class.  We then worked on an article regarding Reconstruction in Georgia - we selective highlighted important and main ideas.  Homework is to finish reading and taking notes on  Chapter 9:2.  Be sure to bring our Civil War letter to class tomorrow.  There will be a quiz on Wednesday over the vocabulary for Chapter 9:1 and 2 and the reading for section 1.  You will not be able to use your notes on this quiz.

Assignments for Thursday, February 21, 2008

Hi!  Assignments for today are as follows:  Vocabulary for Chapter 9 sections 1 and 2.  I believe that the words are listed on pages 298 and 302.  Also, read and take notes on Chapter 9 section 1.  If you missed the test on the Civil War, the make-up will be given on Friday morning (2-22) at 8:15 in my room.   Your Civil War letters will be returned tomorrow.  Bye!

Assignments for Wednesday, February 20, 2008

I returned your test and extra credit cards today - then we went over the test.  After that groups worked on completing the assignments started in last week.  The answer sheets and maps are due tomorrow, so your only homework is to complete this assignment and have it ready to turn in at the beginning of class on Thursday.  We will begin Reconstruction on Thursday and the test for that section will be on Wednesday, March 5.

Additional Information

We are completely out of tissues.  If you are at the grocery store with a parent this week-end, please pick up a box.  I will bring one in for Wednesday, but we are using several boxes a week.

Also, if you missed the test on Friday. the make-up will be next Friday at 8:15  (2/22) in my classroom.  Bring a pencil and a pen.

Test today on chapters 7 and 8.  We read three short stories from It Happened in Georgia.  You then could pick one story and write a summary (3 to 5 sentences).  Have a wonderful and safe long week-end.
