Assignments for Wednesday, December 12, 2007

At the beginning of class today we shared some of our Juvenile Justice cartoons (although juvenile justice is NOT a laughing matter) and then turned them in.  The forms of city government power outline was then checked.  We had a short discussion of county government and answered the 3 questions on page 567 relating to Georgia counties.  At the end of class we had a 10 question check test with questions similar to tomorrow's test questions.  Remember, this test focuses on the federal and state government - be sure to go over the review sheet given out in class yesterday.

Assignments for Monday, December 10, 2007

We began class today by turning in the "wanted" poster listing the qualifications, etc. for the governor and lieutenant governor.  We then discussed the differences between the Georgia Bill of Rights and the U.S. Bill of Rights and did a Venn diagram showing the differences.  For classwork (and to finish at home if you need to) read pages 564 to 577 and do the vocab listed on pages 564, 570 and 575.  Remember that you have a test on the government - both state and federal - on Thursday, December 13.  Your mid-term is on Thursday, December 20.  Things you need to know sheets will be passed out for both of these tests.

Assignments for Thursday, December 6, 2007

Concept map assignment from Tuesday was taken up at the beginning of class.  We then watched a very short video on how a bill becomes a law in Georgia.  We took a short pre-test on juvenile justice in Georgia.  A reading assignment was given - pages 547 to 551 and then we checked to see how well we had done on the pretest.  If this activity was finished in class, there was no homework.  Please remember that you have a "Wanted" poster due on Monday that details the qualifications, terms and duties for the Governor of Georgia.  Due also on Monday, a flow chart that shows the process of a bill becoming a law - again, for Georgia. Thank you!

Assignments for Wednesday, December 5, 2007

Today in class we worked for 15 minutes on the concept map started on Tuesday.  After that I handed out six questions based on the Georgia standards for state government.  At the bottom of the page was an assignment that will be due on Monday, December 10.  Homework was to complete the six questions and be sure that the three concept maps were complete and ready to turn in!
