Mon., 5/19

Today was our last class together before final exams. We have prepared as we should....a bit at a time. I hope you have followed my study suggestions. Since I fly to Germany tomorrow AM for my son's wedding, I won't be back to sign yearbooks or give hugs...my favorite activities of the last week. I'll probably send one last post after I return next week. It has been a good year...even a great one for some of you. Take care, and have a safe summer! Keep in touch and let me know of your future success.

Thurs., 5/15

Today we began class by watching an interview with Miep Gies. Then we related the vocab list to the play itself. It was a good review for the final exam. Tomorrow you will turn in the books. Study the play portion of the final for tonight's assignment.

Wed., 5/14

We finished reading/listening to the play today in class. As usual, I teared up as it ended; such senseless loss of life for so many---Anne was one of over 1,000,000 children who lost their lives---causes me grief everytime we read. Tonight you are to take notes on scenes 4 & 5 and complete the vocab connections. Tomorrow you are to bring both books to class to turn in. As we finish the discussion of the play, you will have all you need...with your notecards, too...to study very successfully for the final.

Tues., 5/13

What a pleasure it has been to read your family stories or research! I enjoy learning from my students as much as I enjoy teaching. Today we listened to the first 3 scenes of Act II. Tonight you are to work on the vocab connections and answer the questions from the new worksheet for the act. Hopefully, we will finish listening to the play tomorrow.

Mon., 5/12

Today you shared the topic of your WWII project and then filed it. Then we listened to Act I. You are to finish the questions for scene 3. Take bulleted notes on scene 4 & 5. Make a chart for the presents in scene 5: the recipient, the gift and how made, and why the gift is so appropriate. We'll listen to Act II tomorrow.

Fri., 5/9

Today we continued to listen to the play as we read along. You made notes of page numbers to answer the questions and making the vocab connections. Today we listened to the bottom of page 722. Don't forget to do something very special for your mother this weekend. While your family story/research is due on Mon., you've had quite awhile to work on it, so don't leave it till Sunday evening. I'm looking forward to seeing you all dressed up tonight; see you then!

Tues., 5/6

Boy! Did you miss a good time today! We made the cell phone decorations for the dance in class. Then we reviewed the lead-up to WWII with a map activity. Tomorrow we are lucky to have a Holocaust survivor as a speaker during classtime. Also, if you were absent on Friday last, remember to come in by 8:15 to see the video you missed.

Mon., 5/5

I hope you enjoyed your time at Lunch on the Lawn today .... with the delicious Dipndots! Today in class you turned in your WWII vocab sheet and then assembled your SUMMER packet. We discussed the final details of the WWII project choices that we have discussed. Tonight you need to read pgs. 696-699 in your lit book to prepare for our reading of the play. We have a busy time ahead of us.
