I hope you enjoyed writing your 12 sentence story yesterday. Today you had time to share it in class with a peer. Did you remember to eliminate the "forbidden" words? We also played Halloween Bingo with the SAT #4 words for chocolate eyeballs. It was fun to use the smarties for markers and even more fun to eat the evidence. Argdancingspookyorangeonblackurl Missed you all in class Wed. and Thurs.; glad to be back! Today we "enjoyed" our introduction to SAT #4  vocab. All cards are due on Tues. Create a bingo card on back of pre-test using all of #4 and extras from #3 for use on Halloween Bingo next Wed. We also had time to correct 10 Ways and SAT unit quizzes. Have a great weekend!

Today in class, you finished the workbook pages to help you develop more powerful verb choices as we begin our unit on persuasive writing. If you have not completed all the work, see me to check out book over the weekend. Complete the assgined notetaking on persuasive writing to turn in tomorrow. SAT makeup is Friday @ 8:20.

Wed., 10/24

Today in class, you practiced developing stronger verb usage through some workbook activities. Continue to complete your hw in the Writing and Grammar book. You are to read & take good notes on pages 134-150. Enjoy also the writing example on pgs. 136-138. All work is due on Friday. Remember there is to be a 10 Ways pop test this week.

Tues., 10/23

How nice it was to wake up this morning to see wet streets! Today in class, you took the SAT #3 unit vocab/sentence structure test. For letting your parents know the format in advance, you could also have added bonus points. After completing the test, you read an article entitled "The Day I banned the 'is' Words". I definitely hope we can do the same as we begin our power verb study. We are also entering our unit on the Persuasive Paper. Stay tuned for details. Begin your hw in the Writing & Grammar book pgs. 134-150 due on Friday. Make up test on SAT is Friday @ 8:20.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Now the rains can really fall. Today in class, you completed your pre-write and your rough draft letter. The activity must be made up before school @8:15 since it is an in class writing assignment. Your SAT#3 unit review test is tomorrow, so get lots of studying finished tonight.

Today is the doorway to the weekend! In class, we completed our discussion of parallel structure and moved on to the topic of correct comma usage. You wrote in class after our discussion. Don't forget to have your parents sign the SAT test study guide and date/time it; be sure not to wait until Mon. AM to show it to them. Our SAT test is on Tues., the 23rd.

Aftering checking the #4 DGP, we added some important dates to our future schedule. Be sure to share these with your parents. Since our Vocab test on Tues, the 23th is so important, begin now to study. The test will cover all 3 SAT units and require some sentence writing using the formulas for sentence construction we've already practiced. Also, we will have a pop test sometime next week on the 10 Ways. We spent the rest of the class reading together and developing examples of various forms of parallel structure.

with our short day, we managed to acomplish a good bit. We checked the SAT #3 cards and reviewed a study strategy using them. Then you worked DGP#4 and checked the Mon/Tues. work. You will complete the DGP when you come to class tomorrow. Smile!! No homework tonight!
