After I explained the plan for the rest of the week and presented the options for those students who would be missing school, we had the first SAT quiz. Your grades were excellent--if you studied at all. After the quiz, you read the short story "Charles" by Shirley Jackson. For tonight, you are to write a sample sentence for each of the 10 Ways to Begin a Narrative using the plot from "Charles". Be prepared to share several of your terrific sentence examples in class.
