ALP-LA and LA - Be prepared for an upcoming( tomorrow or Friday) quiz on Persuasive Writing.  Study the last quiz you had on this topic and review notes on Persuasive Writing. Today in class we went over our in- class persuasive essay and discussed areas on strengths and weaknesses that we found in our papers.

ALP LA and LA - Today we read form our literature book "An E-mail from Bill Gates" and "How to be Polite Online".  These are both examples of expository writing. We worked on an open-book assessment of these stories in class.  HW: APL only - bring in a Cause and Effect newpaper article to class tomorrow.

All language arts classes - We are spending these two days covering bullying in its various forms. We will be covering a "Pyramid of Hate" and will use the information to complete a writing assignment. As stated on on Friday 11/16, this work is a requirement and the assignment was given out to those who said they would be absent.

ALP-LA and LA -- REMINDER: Quiz tomorrow on persuasive writing (see October 30 entry)

REMEMBER: SAT Vocab Vol.4 cards due Wednesday 11/7 (see October 30 entry)...........ALSO write sentences using ALL SAT 4 words using the following as a guide: 1 simple; 3 compound( put together 3 different ways) ; 3 complex( subordinate clause in 3 different places) ; 2 compd/complx ( using 2 different patterns). Review sentence structure notes. Any derivitive of the word may be used; AVOID using be verbs by themselves.(must be used with an action verb)
