ALP-LA and LA - All classes have been writing and editing a persuasive essay in class on assigned topics. Throughout the week, we have addressed the Introduction (hook, thesis statement) Body (Nestorian Order, addressing the opposition and refuting),Conclusion (readdressing thesis and arguments, bringing fresh insight). On Monday, all classes will use edits and revisions to write final copy.
HOMEWORK: ALP-LA .... DGP for weeks 4 and 5 LA.... DGP week 4
ALP-LA and LA - All classes have been reading articles and taking notes on ''Cell Phones at School'' and " The Importance of Recess/Social Time at School". Next week we will be working on writing persuasive essays IN CLASS using these topics as springboards. NO HOMEWORK
ALP-LA and LA - Today in class we worked on the 'Six Sentence Summary" for literary analysis (see notes given in class) using Jack London's short story "Up the Slide". Take the paragragh written in class today and type for tomorrow. Be sure to follow guidelines given in model six sentence summary. If you choose not to type it, write NEATLY in pen and skip lines.
REMINDER: Test on SAT Vols 1 - 3 on Thursday 10/18
ALP-LA and LA - REMINDER: Final copy of narrative due Friday. See yesterday's blog. Today in class Vol.3 SAT vocabulary was introduced. Flash cards due Tuesday 10/16. Remember word and picture on front of card. Definition and part of speech on back of card..... TEST: SAT Vocabulary Vol.3 and words from Volumes 1 and 2.....Thursday 10/18.
ALP-LA and LA - Final copy of narrative due Friday 10/12. Yesterday in class, you were given time to edit rough draft. Today in class, we peer edited revised papers. Follow format instructions given in class today for final copy. Also, remember to review rubric for narrative while revising paper for final copy.
ALP-LA and LA - Continue working on rough draft for personal narrative. The rough draft is due this Friday 10/5. Follow directions from notes on writing a personal narrative.
ALP-LA and LA - Quiz tomorrow on 10 Ways to Begin a Narrrative (memorization). Remember D4Q2GAFS as a device to memorize them. (we've been working on these for a week) Use prewrite and begin working on rough draft.
