Today in class we reviewed a CRCT pretest taken last week. Then we took a posttest for a grade. This test is covering material from Georgia Performance Standards for language arts.
HOMEWORK: worksheets covering participles, infinitives, and adjective/adverb phrases.

The Pearl quiz today chapters 5-6. Also in class today passed back quiz on chapters 1-4 and discussed. THERE WILL BE NO TEST ON THE BOOK, which was scheduled for Wednesday.
GRAMMAR TEST on Thursday. Study sentence structure, parts of the sentence, pronoun usage (including who/whom), verbals. STUDY SESSION THURSDAY MORNING 8:20 - 9:50.

We are working on review of parts of the sentence and parts of speech.(worksheet) Also, review of identifying sentence structures as simple, compound, complex, compound/complex. This work is due on Monday.

I now have around 60 copies of The Pearl by John Steinbeck. If you want your own copy, you need to buy it NOW. Book will be read outside of class. You will be tested on the book BEFORE spring break.
HOMEWORK: Finish worksheet on review of direct objects. Write one simple, compound, complex, compound-complex sentence for review of sentence structures.
Bring Writing and Grammar book to class tomorrow.

Starting Wednesday, you will begin reading The Pearl by John Steinbeck OUTSIDE of class. I have around 40 copies of the book for checkout; however, I am hoping that the majority of you will want to purchase your own copy so you can highlight and take notes. Remember that you can also try to check out a copy from the Dickerson or public library. There will be a test on the book the week BEFORE spring break. Futher specific instructions will be announced later.
