Thursday 9/29/11

Today in class we used the online textbook to continue our work toward getting ready for Tuesday's test.  If you were out and would like to look over the activities we used, go to Chapter 3 in the online text.  Click on eActivities.  We reviewed the Visual Concepts, the Virtual Concepts, and the Concept Map.

Reviewed for the Chapter 3 Test that is now on October 4th.  Use the review activities attached to today's blog for more review.  Took element quiz over elements 1-42.  Make-up:  Monday, October 3rd at 8:50 in my classroom.

Tuesday 9/27/11

Chapter 3 flash cards were checked today.  Change in state lab was also today.  Make-up topic:  Changes in the States of Matter.  The recipe from today's lab is attached to this blog if you want to try it at home.  We did not have time for the element quiz due to shortened classes today, so we will have it at the beginning of the period on Wednesday.  Awesome job in lab today!

Monday 9/26/11

Chapter 3 Directed Reading was turned in.  We used video clips on the phases of matter to review for the Chapter 3 Test.  Each student completed a graphing activity, copies of which can be picked up from the student file.  Be prepared for lab tomorrow.

 

Friday 9/23/11

Each student completed their reading of Chapter 3 Section 3.  We discussed it and completed the R and R guide.  We completed an organizer of the state changes together as a class.  It is attached to today's blog for those that were absent.  Make flash cards and complete the Directed Reading for the last part of Section 3 that was discussed today.  We have now completed the notes for Chapter 3.  The students took the second element quiz today.  Make-up:  Tuesday, September 27th at 8:50 in my classroom.  Make flash cards for the final 12 elements if you have not already done so.  Next element quiz is on September 27th.  The Chapter 3 Test is on September 30th.

Thursday 9/22/11

Each student read Chapter 3 Section 3 through freezing.  We discussed it.  Make flash cards.  Complete the Directed Reading through freezing.

REMINDER:  Element (1-30) quiz tomorrow!

Wednesday 9/21/11

Last night's element card assignment was checked.  Each student read Chapter 3 Section 2 and we discussed it.  We completed through #6 on the R and R Guide.  Make flash cards.  Complete Section 2 of the Directed Reading.

Tuesday 9/20/11

Quiz over elements 1-15.  Make-up quiz:  Friday, September 23 at 8:50 in my classroom.  States of Matter lab today.  Make-up topic:  States of Matter (solid, liquid, gas, plasma).  Make flash cards over elements 16-30.  Next element quiz is this Friday.

REMINDER:  If you have not brought your lab supplies, please do so.  We are going through the quart ziploc bags and paper towels at a very rapid rate.  Thanks!
