We read Chapter 4 Section 2 and discussed covalent and metallic bonds.  Make flash cards.  You have 2 activity sheets to complete for homework.  Keep reviewing your flash cards.  REMINDER:  The polyatomic ions must be mastered by 10/5/07.

Thursday 9/27/07

Due to standardized testing class was very short today.  We concluded our discussion of ionic bonds.  Each student received two activity sheets that were begun in class.  Complete any unfinised work for homework.  Made flash cards on ionic bonds.

Wednesday 9/26/07

Due to standardized testing, class was very short today.  We read Chapter 4 section 1 and discusssed the reading.  We began our discussion of ionic bonds.  It will conclude on Thursday.

Tuesday 9/25/07

Atoms and Molecules test was today.  The make-up test will be on Thursday (9/27/07) at 8:15 in the 8A1 classroom.  We begin our discussion of the Law of Conservation of Matter on Wednesday.  Bring your book to class on Wednesday.

Monday 9/24/07

Each student turned in the workbook assignment from Friday.  We reviewed for Tuesday's test.  The test is over atoms/molecules.  Remember that all tests contain metrics questions.  As always, there is a voluntary review session on test day.  Check your info section of your binder for details.  Hope to see you there.

Friday 9/21/07

Today each student worked on Chapter 3 in the Guided Reading Workbooks (do all questions).  Any work not completed in class should be completed for homework.  If you have Chemistry questions, remember that I do help sessions for you before school.  In class on Monday we will review for your test. Your test is on Tuesday.  It will contain Metrics (as every test will) and Atoms and Molecules. Remenber that there is a review session the morning of every test.

Thursday 9/20/07

Today the students participated in a Jeopardy review.  Make-up assignment:  Do the Chapter Assessment (all questions) at the end of Chapter 3 in your textbook.  Bring your book to class on Friday.  Reminder:  There is no extra help available on Friday morning.

Your test is on Tuesday, September 25th.

Wednesday 9/19/07

Each student was given a progress report today.  The report should be signed and brought back on Thursday.

Today in class, each lab group determined the configuration of common molecules and then built a model of the molecule.  Make-up topic:  Bohr Model.  Be prepared for Jeopardy on Thursday.  Bring your book to class on Friday.  Your test will be on Tuesday.

Tuesday 9/18/07

We were in the computer lab working on a matter web quest.  Any work not completed in class should be completed for homework.  Tomorrow we are back in the classroom for a lab on molecules.  Continue to review your metrics, elements, and atoms and molecules flash cards.  Your test is on Tuesday, September 25th.

There is a voluntary review session at 8:15 on Wednesday morning.  I will hit the high points of the Atoms and Molecules unit.  This review will be of help in preparing you for Jeopardy on Thursday and the test that is on Tuesday.  Hope to see you all there!

Monday 9/17/07

The element flash cards were checked today.  The students took the third element quiz today.  If you were absent, the make-up quiz will be given on tuesday morning at 8:50.  We were in the computer lab.  Each student worked on a web quest on the Periodic Table.  If you did not complete it in class, complete it for homework. We are once again in the computer lab on Tuesday.  Your test is on September 25th.
