Last Week of School

DEAR STUDENTS,

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE WONDERFUL NOTES, GIFT CARDS, BAKED GOODS, AND GIFTS!!!  IT HAS BEEN A VERY GOOD YEAR!  HAVE A TERRIFIC SUMMER BREAK!!!  SEE YOU IN AUGUST!

HW:  "Spirited Away" movie permission to view on Friday, 5/22 (show 3rd period and homeroom teacher) Download Spirited Away movie permission 

FINAL EXAM WILL BE GIVEN WEDNESDAY, 5/20 Prepare by reviewing both Interactive Notebooks, Workbook, and Reading Study Guide.  All test questions will be taken from the Georgia Standards.  http://cicobb.typepad.com/socstudies/files/7th_grade_revised.doc 

To prepare for the final:  Work on a section at a time - Africa, The Middle East, and Asia -including Chapters 15 to 24 (excluding Australia and Oceania)   Read over the standards first, read the two Interactive Notebooks second, then read through the Reading Study Guide (summaries of each chapter).  Finally, look over the workbook lessons we completed during the year.  We will review next Tuesday during class, but you should spend additional time with the material at home, prior to Tuesday review. 
 
BRING A NOVEL to READ after the final.

HW for HOMEROOM: All students must bring in $1.00 for report card postage.

Periods 1 and 2:  Farewell to Manzanar Novel Study 

Finish novel study

Quiz on Tuesday, 5/19

Final test on Wednesday

HOMEROOM:  2 ITEMS - All students must have permission to watch "Night at the Museum" on 5/15/09.  Download the form, or have a note signed in your agenda.  Download NIght at the Museum 2009 movie letter AND all students must bring in $1.00 for report card postage.

Parents and students:  Information regarding the swine flu from the CDC has been placed on our web site.  We are encouraging students to wash their hands and to carry individual sized hand sanitizes in purses, etc.   Our school always has soap, hot water and paper towels.  In addition, most of us have hand sanitizes on our desks for student use.  Please speak with your student at home about the importance of washing hands, covering mouths when sneezing, etc.

Parents and students:  Information regarding the swine flu from the CDC has been placed on our web site.  We are encouraging students to wash their hands and to carry individual sized hand sanitizes in purses, etc.   Our school always has soap, hot water and paper towels.  In addition, most of us have hand sanitizes on our desks for student use.  Please speak with your student at home about the importance of washing hands, covering mouths when sneezing, etc.

All Students:  "Tank Man": PBS Frontline documentary on events surrounding the Tienanmen Square uprising and how the Chinese government responded, enabling China to become an "Economic Giant" Viewing followed by discussion of "questions to ponder" posed to students in class.
