6th grade Honor Chorus Students Rehearsal Schedule Updated 12/5

Congratulations to the three of you that made 6th Grade Honor Chorus.

We will rehearse your music on the following dates. These are mandatory rehearsals as you are expected to know your part before going to the rehearsals in Tifton, GA.

December 14th Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

December 21st Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

Recently added:

January 11th Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

January 18th Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

January 25th Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

 

You will also need to study with your music

 and CD at home to learn your parts.

Toys for Tots Fox 5 News choral ensemble group 8th grade

The Toy's for Tot's News broadcast is Thursday, December 8th.

Your child will need to be at the Publix on Old Canton and Roswell Rd across from the YMCA on Dec. 8th by 4:40 p.m. dressed in your concert attire. You may change into your concert attire at the end of the school day. (If all girls have a Santa hat you may wear them. It will be all or nothing so you will have to decide as a group.)

We will have our first morning rehearsal on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:15 am to begin learning our holiday music for this broadcast. You need to be at all of these rehearsals being that this is such a small group.

The remaining rehearsals will be:

Nov. 16th Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.

Nov 28th Monday at 8:15 a.m.

Nov. 30th at 8:15 a.m.

Dec. 5th at 8:15 a.m. (only if necessry)

Dec. 8th at 8:15 a.m. (Last run through before the newscast that evening.)

Dec. 8th Fox 5 Newscast show at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. You will be featured as the leads into each news set. Feel free to tape the newscast if you wish to do so.

FUNDRAISER PICKUP DELIVERY NIGHT WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16

We need lots of parent volunteers for Nov. 16th (moms or dads). The time slots are:

**9:15 - 11:30 a.m. / 11:00 - 1:30 p.m. / 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. / 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. / 5:00 - 7:00 (clean up duty) p.m. Please contact us if you can help during any of these time slots. The more help the better.

Our Choral moms may be calling or emailing some of you for help this next week. Any time that you can spare will be very helpful to us.

You must pick up and deliver your fundraiser items on Wednesday, November 16th. Please be at DMS no later than 6 p.m.  All items must be picked up by then. Please get a neighbor to come and get your items if you cannot be there. 

If your child only has 3 items he/she may take them on the bus with them. If your child sold more than 3 items they must have someone come and pick up the items by car. All students must pick up their items that day as we will not have any place to store the products that need to stay frozen. Begin calling your customers this next week as they need to know that you are coming. Do not just leave the item on their front porch. Make sure that they are home. Some may be expecting to eat them Thanksgiving week so make sure you deliver them promptly. If the customer is not home the item must be frozen or at least refrigerated prior to delivery. These items can be frozen for up to 6 months.

Procedure: 

Parents may start picking up their child's items beginning at 1p.m.

1. You will get your order sheet/and brouchures (if turned in to us) in the old FACS room. Begin here first even if you made copies of your sheet so that we do not double fill your order. There will be 3 tables set up for chorus, band or orchestra students. Tell the parent volunteer your child's name and grade level to get your order form.

2. Next you will proceed to the band room for the cheesecakes/cakes and pies. A parent or student will help you find your products and a parent will sign off on those items only from your list.

3. You will next proceed to the orchestra room for the cookie dough items. Make sure you double check your items as some are very similar in names. A parent will check your items off as you exit.

For those that have extremely large orders we will fill them in the morning and store your orders in the chorus room. The parent in the FACS room will tell you to go directly to the chorus room if we have filled your order there. You will need to double check the order before signing out.

6th grade Honor Chorus Students Important Information

Congratulations to the three of you that made Honor Chorus!

There is a parent letter and information sheets that went home with your child today. The main points on the letter are listed below. There is also an emergency form that will need to be turned in to us when you know where you are staying. If your child cannot attend please let us know immediately as we will have to choose an alternate to take his/her place. Please make sure that you will be available for all of the rehearsals and dates below.

Disney 2nd payment due November 14th

The next Disney Trip installment payment of $150 is due on or before November 14th.

Please write the check to DMS and mark your white DMS envelope "Disney Chorus 2nd payment".

6th grade Fall Concert November 10th

All 6th grade chorus students will perform their fall concert on November 10th (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m.

Students need to arrive in the theater by 6:15pm and get on the risers to warm-up prior to the performance start time of 6:30 p.m. They are to wear nice long (to the ankle) blue jeans (no holes), their red DMS Chorus T-Shirt (tucked in or pulled in the back) and comfortable closed toe/heel shoes. Do not wear jewlry please. No boots for this concert. Nice sneakers are allowed.

The concert should only last approximately 30 minutes at the most.

Congratulations! You all passed the second audition and now must attend the mandatory Monday evening rehearsal.

Monday, Nov. 7th after school rehearsal:

The rehearsal November 7th is at Palmer Middle School located at 690 North Booth Road; Kennesaw, GA 30144. 770-591-5020. (25 - 30 min. away)

*You will need to eat before arriving to the school by 5:45 pm - 6:10 p.m. and bring your Honor Chorus folder/music & a pencil.

*You may bring a water bottle only.

*Please be prompt as the rehearsal will begin on time (6:15 pm). You are expected to be at this rehearsal, no excuses.

*We will be rehearsing in the theater.  

 *Parents are expected to take their child to and from this rehearsal. Please be there to pick up your child by 8:00 p.m. They will be released at 8:15pm to go home with you.

*Your t-shirts will be given out at 8:15 p.m. Make sure that you get your shirt before leaving.  

*If you bring your cell phone it must be turned off until the end of the rehearsal. Also, there is no gum during any of the rehearsals or performance on Tuesday evening.

          All accompaniment tracks are on the wikki site that I gave you earlier. You should now practice your part alone by listening to only the accompaniment to make sure that you know all of your entrances prior to the evening rehearsal at Palmer MS.

          Tuesday, November 8^th (Teacher workday) your child needs to be at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Rd; Marietta, GA 30068 to check in at 8:15 a.m. The rehearsal will begin from 8:30 – 5 p.m. Wear your DMS Red or Navy t-shirt and nice long blue jeans to the day rehearsal. Lunch and a snack will be provided. Bring a sack lunch if you cannot eat pizza. At 4:45pm parents need to pick up your child to take him/her to dinner in the area. They will need to eat, change into their concert attire (DMS concert dress/tux shirt, black socks & shoes), and report back to the church by 6:45 - 7 pm to warm up. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. You will need to take your child home after the entire concert ends. Remember that the middle schools will sing a final number with the high school groups so you must stay the entire time. No leaving early as this has been stated since the first audition. We are so proud of each of you for representing DMS at this event.

Middle School Schedule for Tuesday, November 8th:

8:00 - 8:30 Check in and get started (Bring your music/folder; pencil and water bottle)

8:30 - 10:00 Rehearsal in choir room

10:00 - 10:15 Break (Keep the bathrooms clean)

10:15 - Noon : Rehearsal in Choir room

Noon - 12:30 pm: Lunch in fellowship hall (Please help keep the church facility clean.)

12:30 - 2:30 ; Rehearse in the sanctuary

2:30 - 3:00 Break/Snack/Move to Choir room (Please help keep the church facility & bathrooms clean.)

3:00 - 4:00 Rehearse in Choir room

4:00 - 4:15 Break/Move to Sanctuary (Keep the bathrooms clean)

4:15 - 5:00 Combined Rehearsal in the sanctuary

5:00 Dismissed for Dinner Break off Campus (or at home) Change into your formal concert attire. 

 *Tell us when you have found your parents. We will all meet in the back of the sanctuary to make sure that all of your parents have arrived to get you.

6:45  - 7:00 p.m. Check in and get in place for warm ups (Be in concert attire, no cell phone and don't be late!) (Set a desinated place to meet your parents when the concert ends.)

7:00 - 7:25 Warm up/ Line up in Choir Room

7:25 Line up outside of the Sanctuary ready to perform.

7:30 p.m. concert begins. You must stay for the entire concert. The final number will be a combined piece for MS & HS. This is a free concert.

8:30 p.m. When the concert ends make sure that you tell us that you have found your parents and have a ride home. We don't want anyone left at the church when it concludes.
