Looking forward to 2011-2012 Choruses

We want to thank our current DMS 6th & 7th grade choruses for a fantastic year. You will be our rising 7th & 8th grade choral leaders next year as we welcome new 6th graders into our choral program. Please encourage the new 6th graders to join our wonderful program in the fall. We are anxious to meet our new 6th graders and greatly encourage you to join our ever growing choral program. It is a lot of fun and a great way to make new and lasting friendships. Have a fun summer and we will see you all in the fall.

Mrs. Dobbins and I would like to thank those of you that gave us parting gifts the last week of school. It was so sweet of you to think of us and we really appreciate each and everyone of you. Have a great summer and be safe in your travels and at home.

Thanks for great Spring Concerts & Talent Shows

Congratulations to all of our 7th & 8th grade students for two fabulous concerts. Hats off to our many soloists that were featured in the concerts and our "Singing in the Rain" dancers. We will miss our talented 8th grade choruses as they move on to high school. We know that you will do well so study hard and keep on singing!!! We will miss you next year.

I also want to congratulate our Talent Show performers in all grade levels. American Idol can't hold a candle to you all. They were terrific shows in all grade levels. If you didn't get to audition this year get your act together early for next year so that you can make the deadline in the spring.

Colorguard will not interfere with the 8th grade choral concert

Choral 8th grade students that wish to try out for Walton's Colorguard will not be penelized for not being there on Tuesday evening due to our choral concert. This has been confirmed by the Walton Band Director. He said that you will have plenty of time to work on Monday and Wednesday after school. He knows about your concert and requests that you be at DMS for the concert instead of the practice. Please be at the concert in your green t-shirt at 7:20 p.m. for our warm-up and performance at 7:30 p.m.

End of Year Concert Information

6th Grade Concert: Thursday, May 12 in the theater

     Arrive at 6:45 p.m. in long blue jeans (no capris) and your red DMS t-shirt. Concert begins at 7 p.m. Warm up in the chorus room. Closed toed shoes and no jewelry. The concert should only last approx 35 minutes.

7th Grade Concert: Tuesday, May 17 in the theater

    Arrive at 6:20 p.m. in long blue jeans (no capris) and your navy DMS t-shirt. Concert begins at 6:30 p.m.  Warm up on stage. Closed toed shoes and no jewelry. The concert should only last approx 35 min.

8th Grade Concert: Tuesday, May 17 in the theater (follows the 7th gr. concert)

     Arrive at 7:20 p.m. in long blue jeans (no capris) and your Green Disney T-shirt. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m.  Closed toed shoes and no jewelry. The concert should only last approx 30 min.

Thanks for a wonderful Disney Trip

We want to thank all of our 8th grade chorus that sang at Disney this past weeked. You all did a fantastic job. It was such a fun time and we are very proud of your behavior this trip.

We want to also thank the parents that volunteered to chaperone this trip. We couldn't ask for better chaperones. You all were wonderful. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Morning 7th gr Rehearsal is cancelled for Tuesday morning

There will be no combined rehearsal for the 7th gr chorus in the am. Instead we will combine during one of our connection times in the afternoon. 

Tuesday, May 3rd, 6th gr. choruses & Selected 8th grade ensemble Performance

We will be performing for the rising 6th graders coming to DMS next year. 6th grade choral students as well as the 8th grade small ensemble will wear your red DMS Chorus T-shirt and long blue jeans. Drop off in the back DMS parking lot at 6:15 p.m. and proceed to the chorus room to warm up. 8th graders will go to the theater after warming up in the chorus room to perform first for the meeting. You will get to leave earlier than the 6th graders so your parents may want to stay in the back lot so that you can get home to pack for the trip.  

Parents, please pick up your child promptly at 7:20 p.m. in the back parking lot as the front will be full of visitors at the meeting. Thank you for your help with this.

Wednesday Disney Trip Departure Check-in

Students and Chaperones,

The check-in process will proceed as stated in a previous blog posting with the exception of:

All students will show their chaperone that they have packed their Red and Navy DMS Chorus t-shirt so pack it on top of everything else. They will be given their trip green t-shirt to pack with them at that time. The chaperones will also be checking that you have packed or put in a separate hang-up bag your entire choral uniform, including shoes & (black socks for the boys). This way we won't have anyone without their daily attire for any of the days we are on the trip.

Parents, please check your daughter's shorts length. They need to be only 2" above the knee. No sofees please. They are only for PE connection time, not for a trip.
