Additional Disney Reminders

Chaperones for Disney please be at school at 8 a.m. on May 4th (Wednesday) Meet us in the theater.

8:15 a.m. students will arrive and are to check in with you. Give you their $2 bus driver tip, case of water bottles and medicine zip lock bag with their name on it. Meds in original containers and the green form filled out completely.

Students: Pack your red and navy chorus t-shirt. You will get your trip shirt on the trip. Also in a separate hangup bag (name on it) pack your entire choral concert attire include socks/shoes. Boys: Formal black pants (no jeans) and formal black shoes (no sneakers). Bring sunscreen and your $2 bus driver tip. Bring your green medical sheet completely filled out and your medicines in a zip lock bag with your name on it. Give it to your nurse that will be on stage.

PARENTS: DO NOT PARK IN THE TURN AROUND AT THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL WHEN PICKING UP YOUR CHILD VERY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING (MAY 8th) 6 A.M. AS THE BUSSES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH. PARK IN A PARKING SPACE ONLY. Otherwise students will have to lug all of their belongings from the back of the school to the front.

DISNEY REHEARSAL FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 29TH, CANCELLED

There will be no early morning Disney Rehearsal Friday morning, April 29th. It has been cancelled.

There are a few that still do not know their parts and you must know them by Monday of next week. It is critical that you all are singing your part.

8TH GRADERS GOING TO DISNEY ARE TO MEET IN THE CHORUS ROOM AT 7:55 A.M. FOR A COMBINED REHEARSAL IN THE MORNING. THIS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL GOING TO DISNEY. DO NOT BE LATE.

Non-Chaperone helpers needed for the day the 8th graders depart to Disney, May 4th

We are looking for any non-chaperone parents that could help out watching luggage in the theater. Your help would be greatly appreciated on Wednesday, May 4th.

The watch shifts will be:

9-11 a.m.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Chaperone Information For Disney (Update)

Thanks again for volunteering to go with us to Disney. It's almost here!!!!!

The chaperones going on the Disney Choral Trip need to be at school at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4th in the theater. Stand under your name (sign) located around the theater. Please remember to bring a large cooler or two with your name on it. Needed for drinks. We will have a chaperone meeting at 9:30 a.m. to over your chaperone packets, trip info etc.

You will need to collect from students as they enter to check in with you:

1) A $2 tip for the bus driver. Give to the chaperone designated for your bus to collect: Mrs. Niemeier Bus 1 and Mrs. Woodruff Bus 2. This money will be placed into two cards to give to the drivers at the end of the trip.

2) Check that all of their luggage/bookbags/hang up uniform bag has their name on it. (Will have masking tape and markers if needed.) Put pillows, blanket etc. with their luggage in one spot near your sign.

3) Check that they have a zip lock bag with their meds in the original containers and the green medical form inside. It should have their name written on it with permanent marker. They are to take this to their assigned nurse.

4) They are then to come back to you and sit until 8:45 a.m. when they will go their 1st period class.

5. Cases of water go in the chorus room hallway stacked on the sides. 103 needed in the theater for the dinner break. Stack enough there for later.

We will need chaperones to help with the:

Icing of the drinks; getting the sandwiches by 3 p.m. from Subway; setting up the cafeteria at 3:30 p.m. for the dinner break prior to leaving at 5 p.m.; Having students help clean up the cafeteria when finished eating. We will try to get some regular parents to volunteer throughout the day watching the luggage in the theater so that you can run last minute errands. If you would prefer to stay at school just let me know and I'll assign you a duty. We felt like you would be with us a lot this weekend so we wanted to give you all a break in the day.

Disney News Update!!!

Parents and Students:

Disney is getting very close. Students will get their packets this Friday to go home. Attached will be a green Medical form for you to update, completely fill out and returned on the day we leave with your medicines. All meds need to be in their original containers and in a zip lock bag with your child's name written in permanent marker. This will be given to the nurse upon your arrival Wednesday, May 4th from 8:15 - 8:45 p.m. Also give them $2 the day we leave for the bus driver's tip given to them at the end of the trip. They will give this to their chaperone to be placed in a thank you card.

 

Also we have scheduled some mandatory combined rehearsals on April 27 in the chorus room, April 28th and April 29 in the theater. This is critical to our performance as we will get our standing arrangements and hear solos for the first time all together.

Also, we still have a few students that have not turned in a copy of their medical insurance cards (front and back) to us for the trip. Note: Your student must have this in order to go on the trip. Please turn this in ASAP.

TALENT SHOW REQUIREMENTS & INFORMATION

Talent Show information is listed below:

TALENT SHOW INFORMATION:

Open to all 6^th, 7^th & 8^th graders. Lyrics must be school appropriate for vocalists and dancers. Turn in a typed copy of lyrics with your audition.

You must have an accompaniment only CD if you are singing a solo (no soloists on CD) ready to go on the audition day. This needs to be given to Mrs. Smith on the day you audition. If you are duping a CD make sure that you finalize the CD or it will not play on the CD player. No CD, no audition as we do not have time to have a second audition. Burn your music from your I-pod to a CD and finalize it.

Keep your act to 3 minutes or less. (Comedians, singers, dancers, instrumentalists, skits etc.)

Audition Dates for each grade level  Have your act polished and ready to go by this date.):

*8^th grade auditions will be May 11 & 12 during class time. (Sorry, no other exceptions)

*6^th & 7^th auditions will be May 13^th Friday during class time. (Sorry, no other exceptions)

The show will be Thursday, May 19^th, if selected to perform. Time: During connection hours.

 

 

 

APRIL & MAY CHORAL EVENTS (Updated 4/26/11)

8th graders:

Disney Rehearsals: April 27th (8 a.m. Chorus room); April 28th (8 a.m. theater); April 29th (8 a.m. theater) These are mandatory rehearsals- no excuses! Be prompt. Those not going to Disney will rehearse with us on April 29th only.

8th grade select ensemble: Parent night for incoming new 6th graders is Tues, May 3rd. Be here by 6:15 p.m. It will last from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Wear long blue jeans and your Red DMS Choral T-Shirt. Please pull around the back of the school to drop off at 6:15 p.m. your child and pick him/her up at 7:20 p.m.

Disney Trip: May 4 - 8th. Back Sunday morning by 6 a.m. Bring luggage and meds to the theater between 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. We will depart after school ends.

8th grade Talent Show auditions: Wednesday, May 11th & Thursday, May 12th during class. Be prepared with accompaniment only CD and appropriate school lyrics. This applies to dance music also. Thursday is your only day to audition.

8th grade Spring Concert: May 17th in the theater. Be here by 7:15 p.m.Disney T-shirt and long blue jeans.

Talent Show during 8th grade connections: Thursday, May 19th for those selected.

7th Grade:

7th Grade Combined Rehearsal on May 10th at 8 a.m. in the theater. Don't be late!

7th grade Talent Show Auditions during class time on May 13th, Friday. Be prepared with your accompaniment CD (no lead singers on it) and school appropriate lyrics. Dancers also need to have music with school appropriate lyrics or instrumental only is fine.

7th grade Concert in the theater on May 17th. Jeans and Navy t-shirt. Be there by 6:15 p.m. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m.

7th grade Talent Show during class times May 19th for those selected.

6th Grade:

Combined Concert rehearsal during class time on May 3rd.

6th grade combined concert in the chorus room on May 3rd at 6:15 p.m. Please drop off your child around the back parking lot at 6:15 p.m. and pick them up at the back parking lot at 7:20 p.m..You will need to wear your Red DMS chorus t-shirts and long blue jeans. We will be singing for the new 6th graders coming to us in the fall of 2011 from our feeder elementary schools. It will last approx. 1 hour. Please be on time to pick your child at 7:20 p.m.

6th grade Night of the Arts Spring Concert: May 12th in the theater at 6:45 p.m. All 6th grade chorus members must attend. Wear your long blue jeans and your Red DMS Chorus t-shirt.

May 13th, Friday 6th grade talent show auditions during class hours. Must be prepared with CD accompaniment and/or appropriate lyrics on this day only.

May 19th Thursday, Talent Show during connections times, if selected.
