Then - Remember that your Reading Card/AR test was due today. If you were absent    - have it tomorrow.

For Friday - Quiz on the Vocabulary/Terms

States Rights, Kansas Nebraska Act, Missouri Compromise, Sectionalism,Compromise of 1850, Underground Railroad, Platform, Abolitionists, Free States, Slave States, Election of 1860,  Lincoln, Douglas, Bell, Breckenridge, Democrat, Whig, Republican, Secession, Popular Sovereignty,

Be able to match parties and platforms with the candidates.

You should also be able to use each in a sentence that demonstrates your knowledge of how the term relates to the period of history that we are studying.

In class today - The election of 1860 - pages 244-249

Homework - 1,2 - Letters From Lincoln.....using the text,information I gave you and any other sources, you are to write a letter as if you are Abraham Lincoln. Remember that your purpose is to write as if you are writing your children and telling them what you intend to do to hold the country together under the present threat of secession.

3 - Letters to Lincoln

Your letter should be written as if you are either  from the North or South and concerned about the future of your lifestyle as the result of his election.Refer to the text,the info on Lincoln as well as any other resource you have that will provide you with information about the platform of ideas he felt were important.

6th / 7th - 2 sheets - all questions and the essay questions.Use all information from your text.

Just a note to keep you on track.... :) I am sick   today and will not be in class.Hopefully,I will be better on Friday. For those who were to serve detention or work on maps and cups...I will try to be there by 8:30 am on Friday. You have no homeowrk - but do make sure you have completed the reading assignment regarding sectionalism. (206 - 227)

Today in class.....we are on a fast schedule this week - If you did not have the completed homework -

People Places Terms  - page 206, remember that you need these in your notebook for the activity on Wednesday.

Wednesday in class  - 1st,2nd and 3rd will work on the Manifest Destiny activity.

6th and 7th will begin their activity

All groups - have colored pencils or markers

Read CAREFULLY - pages 207 - 213 (through OREGON)

Several people had issues with the online text.Remember the password is msh11ga.

Another Reminder - To insure that you know what your assignment is, write it in the agenda.The BLOG is your back-up - but you need to write it down in class.

A Reminder - Be sure that you have completed Friday's assignment - simple flow chart regarding "Causes of the War of 1812" as well as your question about Andrew Jackson - "What was his role during the War of 1812 as well as immediately after the war ?"

Today's assignment - The Timeline - Events should be assigned dates before plotting on the timeline.Time line will have 10 illustrations.
