Count Down to Spring Break
Just a little over a week until Spring Break! But, we have work to do. We are in Chapter 9, Classification. Yesterday we visited "King Phillip" to learn about the different areas of classification. We will continue this study and today include dichotomas keys.
Terms to define were given out earlier. They are to be defined and turned in by Wednesday, 3/30/11. There will also be a vocabulary quiz on that day. The terms are:
classification, taxonomy, dichotomos key, archaea, bacteria, eukaraya, protista, fungi, plantae, animalie.
We will have the Chapter 9 test next Friday, 4/1/11. This is the last day before Spring Break. If you know you will not be here that day, you have two options. You can take the test Thursday during class, or on the Monday we return. It must be one of those two options. We begin the CRCTs that Tuesday after Spring Break and NO TESTS WILL BE GIVEN! So, plan accordingly.

p. 179, questions 4-10. For #10, do not answer it in words, draw 3 pictures showing evolution of an animal or organism.
p. 183, questions 3-6. For #6, do not answer it in words, draw a picture.

I Do Not like Green Eggs and Ham!
Well tomorrow is Friday. The week seemed to go by slow. I guess after a week off, it would seem to go slow. Oh well, lets review today's "journey."
Today we had the Chapter 7 vocabulary quiz and turned in the illustrated vocabulary terms that were assigned on Monday. We continued taking notes on evolution and natural selection. We will finish the PowerPoint tomorrrow.
We also talked about the fact that yesterday was the anniversary of the birth of Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel). The good doctor would have been 107 years old. As I mentioned in class, I am a huge fan of Dr. Seuss so I wrote this poem in his honor. We read it in class, but many of you asked for me to put it on my blog. Here it is:

That seems about so.
All those wonderful stories
that everyone knows.
I can't remember a time
without Green Eggs and Ham,
or Hop on Pop, or Sam I am.
The Grinch made Chistmas special,
with little Cindy Lou.
