Vocabulary Quiz Today. Test and test corrections were due today, as well.

Guided Reading 6.1,6.2,6.3 are due Wednesday, 10-24-07.

Guided Reading 6.4 is due Friday, 10-26-07.

This weeks discussions include: phases of matter, chemical and physical changes, pH levels, acids and bases, and types of reactions.

Picture Retakes

There will be picture retakes on October 23rd

Today we started in Chapter 5 - Chemical Reactions.

Vocabulary: precipitate, endothermic reaction, exothermic reaction, activation energy, decomposition, concentration, catalyst, enzyme, inhibitor, combustion. Vocab Quiz - Monday 10/22.

Guided Reading: Sections 5.1 & 5.3. Due Tursday, 10-18.

BALANCING CHEMICAL EQUATIONS

We started balancing chemical equations today. The web links we used are listed below. A study guide went out today that will be worked on in class Thursday. Students may start it tonight if they want, but it is not necessary. The test is Friday. Study Sessions were this morning, Thursday @ 8:30, and Friday @ 8:30.

We are finishing our studies on chemical bonding. There will be a test on Friday covering Ch4 & 5. We will do a review Wednesday on what will be covered n the test. Study sessions will be avilable Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 8:30am.

8th grade is in the middle of ITBS testing this week Get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast!

We finished note today on the three types of chemical bonding (Notes can be downloaded from th provided link). Tomorrow, we will work on drawing these bonds using electron configurations and Lewis Dot Diagrams.Download chemical_bonding.ppt
