AC classes went over unit 6 in the workbook. This is over research methods. We also went over how to make the Christmas Carol project. All students need an empty CD case for class tommorrow. The Christmas Carol project is due on Thursday of this week.
ON LEVEL - classes went over the information in the workbook in unit 6. We read the speech of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and learned a little about his life.
AC classes went over pages 456 - 469 in the Readers' Journey. They were given a copy of the project they are to begin on Tuesday. Each student will need an empty cd case for the project. Download CD Cover project for A Christmas Carol The project is due on Wednesday, Feburary 1.
ON LEVEL classes comnpleted the workbook lesson 6-3 on pages 462 - 469. we used the words adolescent, prominent, and eloquent to find the definitions, etemology, and similar/related words.

AC Classes went over stave 4 and stave 5 questions. The rest of the class was spent going to the media center to get books for silent reading and read some non fiction material.
On Level classes went to the media center to check out books for silent reading on Friday. The rest of the class was spent finishing the RESEARCH paper where they put down topics related to the sea otter rescue book we recently read.

AC classes went over questions on Stave 3 from A Christmas Carol. Students read Stave 4 during class. Tomorrow we will read stave 5 and answer questions over Stave 4 and 5.
TODAY we all had the Dickerson Challenge classes where students talked about "What would you do?" in different situations.

On Level & AC classes went to the media center today to type out their book recommendation for the 5th annual Dickerson Book Award. Our focus is a character that has a loving heart. Remember to have a book in class to read on Friday.
AC Classes - took a pretest for unit 3-6. We are looking at how research is completed. Grades to show a baseline are on pinnacle. The grades do not carry any weight. Students completed a worksheet on A Christmas Carol, Stave 2. Don't forget that there is a test tomorrow on literary terms. Your literary terms definitions are due. Download Stave 2 questions
ON LEVEL Classes - Today we started the unit on research. We discussed what an expert is and how we help the community as well as ourselves. The students ended class by drawing an acrostic for RESEARCH using words that relate to the research process.
Today 1st period received reports cards along with a parent survey. Please sign the report card and return it on Monday. Surveys may be completed and returned to school.
AC - Students read from their favorite books. They were given a new reading log to complete. This reading log is due in 2 weeks and should reflect 10 days of reading for a total of 150 minutes (2.5 hours) Parents need to sign the log only once.
