ON LEVEL  completed lesson 1-12, p. 60-61, and answered the questions in the workbook.  THey also read p. 62-62 and answered the questions.  We checked the answers to "The War of the Wall."  They also read "Stolen Day" on pages 64-71 and answered the questions.  Our focus was on marking the text to indicate where the conflict is defined and to show the Rise in action, the Climas and the resolution.  Students need to have their signed reading logs tomorrow.  Don't forget the test on Monday over Unit 1 in the workbook.

AC Classes conmpleted the test practice on page 90 - 92.  We checked the answers.  We also checked the answers to lessons 1-12, 1-6, and 1-13.  The students are to read p. 74 - 79 paying attention to marking the text. 

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE THEIR READING LOG READY TO TURN IN TOMORROW!!!

ONLEVEL - Today they read in the workbook pages 32 - 41.  They answered the questions on these pages.  After they completed this work, they were allowed to read in their AR books, take AR tests, or go to the media center.  THERE IS A TEST ON UNIT 1 FROM THE WORKBOOK.  THE TEST IS ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2011.

AC classes read in the workbook pages 32 - 41.  They answered the questions on these pages. They also read pages 72 - 79 on setting and mood and answered the questions there.   After they completed this work, they were allowed to read in their AR books, take AR tests, or go to the media center.  THERE IS A TEST ON UNIT 1 FROM THE WORKBOOK.  THE TEST IS ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2011.

TUESDAY, September 27,2011

AC Classes - Today we went over Point of View, Characterization and Author's Purpose.  Students read from the workbook, answered questions, and discussed examples from the workbook.  Test over Unit 1 will be on Monday.

ON LEVEL classes went over Author's Purpose in the workbook.  Test over Unit one will be on Monday.      

 

MONDAY, September 26, 2011

ON LEVEL -  Completed lesson 1-7, pages 42 - 43 and Lesson 1-11, pages 54 - 59 in the workbook.  They made index cards with the author's purpose elements.  They will have a test on Monday, October 3, 2011. The test will be over Unit 1 in the workbook.  Students may take their workbooks home over the weekend to study.

AC Classes completed lessons 1-7, 1-11, and 1-12 in the workbook.  They were given a copy of a "Book Map" that lists all the elements that we will be focused on this year.  These elements are correlated to the GPS.  The elements are the main make up of any book.  They will also have a test on Monday on Unit 1.

WEDNESDAY, September 21, 2011

ON LEVEL: You have a test on Thursday over The Rules of the Road.  Be sure to study.  All questions are due before the test.  Students will enjoy free reading after the test and on Friday. We will begin a new novel on Monday. 

AC Classes started watching the movie The Call of the Wild  Students are making notes of the differences between the novel and the movie.  There are many interesting differences!  We will begin a new novel on Monday.

 

TUESDAY, September 20, 2011

ON LEVEL worked on the reading and answering of the questions on Rules of the Road.  We will go over all questions so the students will have a study guide for the TEST on Thursday.  Friday will be a free reading class.  On Monday we will start our next novel. 

AC Classes took the test over The Call of the Wild.  They turned in the questions and answers to the book.  Students were given a form to begin filling in before the movie.  The form is a movie comparison form.  Students must have the left half of the form filled in to begin watching the movie.  We will begin watching the movie The Call of the Wild in our classes tomorrow.  The comparison form will be due on Friday after viewing the movie. 

Don't forget to do that reading tonight!   

MONDAY, September 19, 2011

AC LEVEL - There will be a test on The Call of the Wild.  All questions will be due before the test.  Students will need a book to read after the test.

ON LEVEL - Today we read Nisei Daughter from our reading workbook.  We went over the vocabulary and used context clues to decide meanings of unknown vocabulary.  TEST on The Rules of the Road  on Thursday, September 22, 2011.  All questions will be due on the day of the test.

FRIDAY, September 16, 2011

ALL CLASSES ENJOYED SILENT PLEASURE READING TODAY.  STUDENTS TURNED IN THEIR READING LOGS.  THEY WERE CHECKED AND RETURNED TO THEM. 

PROGRESS REPORTS WILL GO OUT ON WEDNESDAY OF NEXT WEEK.  BE SURE TO LOOK FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING THIS HOME.  YOU NEED TO SIGN IT AND RETURN IT TO YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER.

AC WILL HAVE A TEST ON THE CALL OF THE WILD ON TUESDAY.

ON LEVEL WILL HAVE A TEST ON THE RULES OF THE ROAD ON THURSDAY.

ALL LEVELS -  Today we completed lesson 1-6 in the workbook.  We covered standards ELA7R1.1a and ELA7R1.1e.  Our Essential Question was:  What would stories be like without conflict?

On Level - Today we went over the questions from Rules of the Road from chapters 10 - 13 and 14-16.    TEST on Rules of the Road  on Thursday, September 22.  BE PREPARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AC Classes - Today we had a pop quiz on the characters in our book, The Call of The Wild.  There will be a TEST on The Call of the Wild on Tuesday, September 20. 

 

 

  Students have been allowed to check out books from class and return them the following morning.
