SUMMER READING PROJECT

IS DUE ON FRIDAY!!!

SEPTEMBER 2, 2011

 

ON LEVEL  classes answered the questions from Rules of the Road for chapters 8 - 9 and started reading chapter 10.  Tomorrow all classes will have a substitute teacher as I attend training.  They will continue to read in their anchor book, Rules of the Road, and answer the next set of questions.

AC classes listened to chapter 5 of The Call of the Wild.  They have questions to answer over chapter 5 for classwork on Thursday.  They will also have a selection to read from another book over what a short story is and how it is different from a novel. 

                                                                                                  

TUESDAY, August 30, 2011

SUMMER READING PROJECT IS DUE ON FRIDAY!!!

ON LEVEL - today we read from our book The Rules of the Road.  Students were given questions to answer over the reading.

AC Classes - We went over the answers to the questions in chapter 2 and 3 for The Call Of The Wild.  Students listened to a recording of chapter 4 and were given a set of questions on chapter 4 to answer.  Remember to answer all questions in complete sentences. 

MONDAY, August 29, 2011

ONLEVEL -  Today we read chapters 4-6 of The Rules of the Road.  Students answered the questions over the corresponding questions.  Summer Project is due on Friday, September 2, 2011. 

AC  - AC classes read or listened to The Call of the WIld today in class.  They answered questions on the corresponding chapters.  Summer Project is due on Friday, September 2, 2011.

Many thanks to all the parents who were able to attend open house.  It was great meeting you all!  Your support is why we have the great kids we do!  Thanks so much!

All classes turned in their reading logs and got to read their favorite book today.  It is a great ending to any week.  Have a great weekend!

ONLEVEL -& AC   Today we turned in the finished drawings of Jenna and the internal and external conflicts she is facing.    AC students turned in their posters for the lost dog - Buck. Students went to the media center and took the Star Reading test to give me an idea of their vocabulary levels.  They also checked out books and read quitely. 

Looking forward to seeing all of their parents Thursday night. 

TUESDAY, August 23, 2011

ONLEVEL - Today all students took the vocabulary quiz on Rules of the Road.  They finished the class by drawing and coloring a picture of the main character, Jenna, giving her internal and external conflicts around her.  Tomorrow we will take the star reading test and continue to read our anchor book.

AC -  Today all students took the vocabulary quiz on The Call of the Wild.  They finished the class by completing a Lost Dog poster to find Buck.  Tomorrow we will take the reading vocabulary test and continue to read our anchor book - The Call of the Wild.

ONLEVEL - read and answered questions on Rules of the Road.  There will be a vocabulary quiz TOMORROW on the vocabulary from the book.  Please check your index cards.  Make sure you know the definitions and the vocabulary.

The summer book project has been moved to a due date of September 2 so you will have one extra day!  Don't forget to read for 30 minutes each night!

ONLEVEL classes previewed the author Joan Bauer.  We will begin reading the book Rules of the Road during class tomorrow.  Students worked on the vocabulary today.  They wrote the vocab word and pronounciation on the front of the card and put the part of speech and definition on the back of the card.  These words were given to them on a handout.  The handout should be placed in the first section of the reading binder under Handouts.  Cards are due on Friday, August 19 with a quiz over the vocabulary definitions on Tuesday, August 23.  We will also be taking the Star Test on Tuesday.
