Finishing up with The Outsiders - Test coming next week!

Hi, Reading Friends!  We are just about finished with The Outsiders!  We have really been working hard to read in class and answer questions that correlate with every chapter.

AC:  You have finished the book and will test this coming Monday - Monday, Oct. 3.  We will review in class Friday.  If you are out for any reason, you will have a few minutes Monday to review with a friend before we begin the test.

On-Level:  You will finish your Chapters 9-12 questions by Monday.  We will check them in class Monday, review, and TEST the next day, Tuesday, Oct. 4.

As you know standardized testing starts Wednesday, 10-5, so it's important for us to finish before testing starts.  The CogAT will be given Wednesday 10-5, Thursday, 10-6, and Friday, 10-7.  The IOWAs will be given every day the following week, Monday - Friday, October 10-14.

Oh - - - the last AR Test for both levels goes in 10/3.

Reading alert! First AR Test scores in, but do not PANIC!

Hi, everyone!  I have put in your AR score for your summer reading book in Pinnacle and even your score for your first AR Book.  I did enter a "Z" for your first AR book if you had not tested on your book yet, and it does average in as a zero, BUT WHEN YOU READ AND TEST ON YOUR AR BOOK, I'LL CHANGE IT TO THE GRADE YOU GET!  IN OTHER WORDS, DON'T PANIC - JUST READ AND TAKE AN AR TEST TO REPLACE THE "Z"!  This is simply a "heads up" that the AR Tests are a serious part of your average and to show you how that criteria impacts your average.  The only way that "Z" becomes a real zero is if you truly never read or take the AR Test.  Your second AR Test grade goes in October 1.  You will receive a second "Z" if you haven't taken the second AR Test on or before 10/3.      

AC, you KNOW you owe me 2 other AR Tests before October 3, too - one of which must be a classic.  So get reading! 

While you're on Pinnacle, be sure to look and see what other work (if any) you owe me.  I have also entered a "Z" for those, but will change it to the grade you earn when you turn it in.  If the grade is empty, that means for some reason, I didn't give you the "Z" yet, but will, if it isn't turned in "soon".

Hi, Readers!  The projects were fabulous!  Thanks to all my students who worked so diligently to convey the messages of their books artistically.  Very impressing!

Next week when we return TUESDAY, we'll go to the media center to take the AR Test on the summer reading books and then return to class to finish the first on-going assignment for The Outsiders.  We'll check answers to the questions for accuracy Wednesday.

Thursday, September 8 - SCHOOL PICTURES! School Pictures are scheduled for Thursday, September 8.  Pre-payment envelopes will be sent home Tuesday, September 6.  Payment must be made directly to the photographer on picture day using the picture selection envelope.  All students will be photographed for the yearbook.
