Hello, friends! I am so excited to be your reading teacher this year. During our three days in class this week, we have been getting to know each other, accomplishing all the organizational tasks of school, doing ice breaker activities, and of course, READING! Our first trip to the Media Center is this coming Monday, 8/23. Until then you should be reading a book from home or finishing your SUMMER READING BOOK. As the syllabus reminded you, you cchose your own summer reading book, and now, you will complete a project and the AR Test that accompanies your book before September 1. I'll give you more details tomorrow, but just know that all this is coming!
Also as the syllabus stated, your homework every evening is to read for 30 minutes and to document it on our yellow reading log. You must have your parent or guardian sign it sometime during the week and submit it every Friday. You must also have a novel in class every day, but especially on Fridays. Fridays are "Fabulous Fridays" in our class where we read silently for the entire class. Your first Reading Log is due this Friday, August 20.
