Week of 4/18 through End of Year

Hi, Readers!  Today in all of my classes I announced your final Reading project for the year.  You partnered with one other student (with a few exceptions) and checked out the book you and your partner chose and that neither of you had already read.  You also have the Project Explanation Sheet and Contract that you signed in class.  You must allow your parent/guardian to read the project description and sign it tonight, too.  Pay attention to all the components and their due dates, put them on your calendar at home as well as in your agenda, and start reading your new award winning book tonight.

Let me be clear though.  : )  This project is due Monday, May 16 and does not replace either of your 2 required AR Book Tests for this quarter.  Most of you have taken your first AR Book Test, and I will enter that grade this Thursday.  Some of you have already taken your second AR Book Test, too!  Your last AR Book Test is due by Tuesday, May 10.  Additionally, the book you selected today for the project MAY NOT COUNT AS ONE OF YOUR AR BOOK TESTS.  These are separate, distinct assignments.  No problem - just keep reading!

I have attached the project explanation sheets for On-Level Reading and for AC Reading below in case you have misplaced yours.  See you tomorrow!

Week of 4-11-11

Hi, Reading Friends!  Hope you had a marvelous Spring Break and that you're pumped and ready to start the CRCTs tomorrow. 

Please remember to:  1) Be on time to 1st Period. You will test in your 1st period class.  2) Bring 2 old- fashioned, wooden Number 2 pencils and be sure they have good erasers.  Be early enough to sharpen them too.  NO MECHANICAL PENCILS AT ALL!  3)  You may not have your cell phone, Kindles, etc.  You must be sure your cell phone is off and in your locker.  It may not go off during testing without written explanation.  Also, there can be no electronic devices at all.  You will have to read a genuine book every day during testing.  Please leave your Kindle, etc. at home, but be sure you have a novel, NO non-fiction or school work of any kind!

Get to bed early tonight, eat a good breakfast, and I know you'll do GREAT!
