Reading Week of 2/14/11

Hi, Friends!  Happy Valentine's Day - - - and February Break is only five days away!  Wow, the year is going quickly.  This week in Reading - -

On-level will finish reading Touching Spirit Bear and answering the accompanying chapter questions by the end of class Wednesday.  The children have been allowed to check out a book if they deemed it necessary or they can purchase one of their own at any book store you prefer.  If they haven't finished by the end of Wednesday's class, they will have to finish at home Wednesday evening.  We will check both Packet 2 (Chapters 5-13) and Packet 3 (Chapters 14-28) in class Thursday and into Friday for test grades.  Friday will be silent reading and submission of their yellow reading logs.  Then - we're off on vacation!

AC Reading is finishing their third vocabulary study and have their test on the 28 terms and their definitions tomorrow.  We will finish the week reading.

Oh, and in both levels, we reviewed their grades and talked about any assignment/ quiz / test that must be made up.  While I didn't send home anything in writing again, you may certainly see their missing work on Pinnacle.  Anything marked "z" may still be made up and submitted for a grade for my classes.

Reading - Monday, February 7

Hi, Friends!  Today both levels tested on their spelling/vocab words.  Please make this up if you were absent.

My 1st Period class received (as did many other 1st Period classes) their 3rd Quarter mid-term grade sheet today.  Please review it with your parents, get it signed, and return it tomorrow.  Note specifically those assignments/tests/quizzes that you may still make up!  If you didn't get your grade sheet today, I'm sure you'll get one tomorrow or the next day.  As you know, you may always check your standing in all your classes on Pinnacle.

Reading week of 1/31

On-Level Readers:  This week we have started reading Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen in class and are answering questions associated with each chapter for class work grades.  So far we are up to Chapter 4!  We will check the questions for Chapters 3 and 4 Monday AFTER YOUR SPELLING/VOCAB TEST ON THE VOCABULARY EMBEDDED IN THESE CHAPTERS.  I have listed the words below in case you misplaced your word list with its definitions.  Yes, you will spell them and define them.  They are:
