Quiz tomorrow!!  If you were here today you received the slip with the innformation...just a review...if you weren't call a friend or dig it out of your Middle East notebook....You've studied this before! Practice writing it several times before you come to class.  See yesterday's blog entry for more details.

Test on Friday....the four ethnic groups....

Tomorrow, in class, we will finish our timelines....

For your homework, and an overview of this coming week...

You will have an announced quiz on Wednesday.  Dig out your I.N. from the Middle East and find the definitions for an ethnic group and a religious group. We studied this in the Middle East standards when we talked about the culture of that region.  This standard comes back around again in the Africa Unit, also.  On Wednesday, I will ask you to write those two definitions again, word for word, without any spelling errors.  So, how do you study these? Practice writing it many times at home.  Please don't come into class and be writing it for the first time as a quiz.  And, if for some reason those definitions are not to be found...I'll give you another copy tomorrow in class!

On Friday, you are having a mini-test on the standard SS7G4b: Arab, Ashanti, Bantu, and Swahili ethnic groups.  What do you study? Pages 13A/13B and 14A/14B.  The only notes some classes still need are on the Arabs, but so much of that has already been taught in the Middle East Unit, it really is a review.

If you have not made up the last test, or need to finish the atlas work, my next early morning time will be this Wednesday.

 

If you were absent today, Friday, January 27th, please come on Monday to take the make-up for the Geography Standards test.  Please go to the study hall @ 8:15, and I will meet you there.

There is not any homework over the weekend.

Final pointers....

Follow the study guide.  Pay especially close attention to the numbered ideas on the study guide.  They would make excellent True/False questions!

Be sure to memorize in alphabetical order the seven environmental concerns.  Be able to write them.  Be able to identify the sentence strips that go with a topic.

Be able to match climate types to the explanation of what that climate type is like.

Be sure to know what's new and different in the textbook.  I gave you suggestions about how to approach this assignment quite some time back.

I suggested that you study the textbook pages as a priority this weekend along with the seven environmental topics and the sentence strips that go with each area.

First Test Alert Announcement for an assessment on the Geography Standards for Africa.  Currently the test is planned for next Friday, January 27th.

What should you study?

To start off with be sure you know the pages from your textbook:

                            42 - 47 and pages 50 - 56

Next....everything in your Interactive Notebook up to pages 12A/12B

I will give you a study guide as far as specifics from the Notebook pages as I always do.

The majority of the test will be multiple choice, matching, or true/false.

You should know pages 42 -47 in your textbook very well by now...Well enough for a quiz at any time!

Tonight, I am asking you to read for the first time, pages 50-56 in your online textbook.

Today, in class, we worked on the final product for the Environmental Unit.  This activity was called "Sticky Notes and Sentence Strips".  We'll finish it tomorrow.  If you did not have a glue stick today, be sure you have one for tomorrow. Also, have your colored pencils for some new map work that we will begin tomorrow.

If you were absent when we took the Open Notes Quiz last week (1/12), please come tomorrow @ 8:15 to complete the make-up.  Go to the cafeteria, and I will meet you there.

Continue to study pages 42 - 47 in your online textbook.

Open notes quiz tomorrow on the reading piece.  You've had tons of time in class to finish the questions...I stressed paying attention to the details!

And...I offered you a packet to take home tonight if you, by chance, did not finish the questions.  All you had to do was come see me after 5th period for your copy.
