8th Grade Field Day! This year the 8th grade field day will be held on Friday May 15, 2009. We are making some changes to field day and one of the changes includes having the ENTIRE school day for our activities and events. We having been working hard on creating a new schedule, adding new events and new challenges for every student involved. We are very excited to see the results out on the fields. Unfortunately with the new events we are adding to the day, we are in need of a few supplies. The supplies needed are listed below. We are very appreciative of all that you do and all of your support towards Field Day. If you are willing and able to donate any of the items, or let us borrow them, drop them off in the front office or please contact: Maureen McLaughlin 770-578-2710ext 250, Maureen.McLaughlin@cobbk12.org Thank You, The Physical Education Department Supplies Needed:
Due to a major electrical upgrade at the Kennesaw Warehouse, scheduled for November 21st through November 30th, ALL IT services (including the DMS website, I Parent, Picasso, and e-mail, among others) will be unavailable during that same time period.
Beginning with the 2nd quarter, all homework assignments are in a separate "homework" category that is weighted as 20% of the grade. Students will have one assignment per unit that is worth 5 pts. The homework assignments are assessing their knowledge of a variety of things related to their particular unit including rules, strategies, and concepts. It is very important that this work be completed and taken seriously as it will greatly effect a grade if not turned in.
Scoliosis Screening will take place on Monday, Nov.17 and Tuesday, Nov. 18. We will only screen the 6th and 8th grade students. Parent letters were handed out to students on Monday Nov. 3. If you did not receive the letter please contact us so we can get you the information. The parent letter has a form at the bottom to decline screening. If you do not want your child screened for Scoliosis, this form must be filled out with a parent signature and returned before the screening dates. All students without a decline letter will be screened. The students will see a short video explaining Scoliosis and the screening process the week before screening. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact Maureen McLaughlin.
It's getting pretty chilly outside. Especially in the morning (7th grade)! We do watch the weather and don't go outside when it's too cold (according to Cobb Co. standards given for PE classes). So remind your students to bring something warm for PE to school. We want to get in as much outdoor class activity before the "real" cold comes! We will all have class inside then :)
Stay warm and remember to drink water! The cold weather really dries your system out.
