Thank you students for making this year a terrific one!  I've enjoyed getting to know you, watching you grow up and teaching you about this wonderful world.  Have a safe and fun summer and I'll see you all next year for your FINAL Year at Dickerson!  Take Care.

Announcements:

There will be a question and answer review session tomorrow and Wednesday for the final exam at 8am.

End of year announcements

7th grade students will be cleaning out their lockers tomorrow.  They will be allowed to put backpacks and lunches in their lockers, but all textbooks should have already been returned and all personal items (notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, locker accessories) must be removed.  

All Students must take home PE clothes, art items, book bags & musical instruments.  No items are to be brought the last two days of school.  Teachers will furnish supplies

Students who have not returned their textbooks or have returned damaged textbooks will be bringing home forms explaining the replacement costs that must be reimbursed before end of year report cards and other student information will be released. 

No Party or Food During  the Last Week of School

No Bus notes will be approved on Thursday, May 21 or Friday, May 22.  ALL STUDENTS WILL RIDE THEIR OWN BUS HOME.

Students checking out early on Friday must sign out as usual in the front office.

Students are not permitted to bring food, radios, CD's, MP3 Players, Cameras, or other non-school related for use during the week's activities.

SUMMER READING LIST IS AVAILABLE ON THE DICKERSON WEB SITE.

Classwork:

Today's Farewell to Manzanar test was postponed until tomorrow.  Today students reviewed parts of the novel that they had questions about or didn't quite understand. 

Homework:

Since students should have already studied for the novel test tomorrow, they should look at the blog posting last week that had a link to the 7th Social Studies Standards.  Any areas that need to be reviewed can be found in the Reading Study Guide each student has at home, or their interactive notebooks.
The Social Studies final exam is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20.

Announcements

 

Movie Permission Slips for viewing Spirited Away on Friday, May 22 need to be signed and returned by Wednesday of next week.  The form is available for download, review and printing, or a note from the parents in a student’s agenda for that day will suffice

Novel Test Monday on Farewell to Manzanar.  Study Session On Monday Morning at 8AM in Room 7G2.

Final Exam on Wednesday.  Question and Answer sessions Tuesday and Wednesday at 8am.

Students are asked to please return their envelopes with 1 dollar to cover the cost of mailing final report cards, etc.  Students who do not do this will have to have their parents schedule an appointment to come to Dickerson Middle School and get their child

Announcements

Students who have not returned permisson forms or notes in their agenda to allow them to watch Night at the Museum tomorrow are running out of time.  Students who have not returned permisson forms or notes in their agenda to allow them to watch Spirited Away next Friday are encouraged to bring in permission forms or notes ASAP.

Study Session Monday, May 18 for our Farewell to Manzanar Test at 8AM

Question and Answer Session Tuesday and Wednesday for our Final Exam.  I will answer students' question about concepts, terms, etc., but not about what is specifically on the test!

Class Work

Today students participated in a round robin discussion on the first part of our novel, Farewell to Manzanar.  Students then took a quiz on the first 8 chapters.

Homework

We are having a test on all of Farewell to Manzanar on Monday, May 18.  Continue reading if you haven't finished.  We are having our .  There is a link posted below where students can review questions and concepts that we have covered all year in class.  Students should be able to answer and explain their answers to the key questions, terms, etc., provided.  Additional reviews will be conducted in class.

Announcements:        (Remember to check the blog and downloads daily)

The Test on Farewell to Manzanar has been moved to Monday, May 18.  There will be a quiz on Chapters 1-8 tomorrow in class.  Students who wish to continue their reading before homeroom may come down to 7G2 at 8:10 am. 

The Final Exam will remain at its originally scheduled date of Wednesday, May 20.

Students who have not returned their textbooks must do so tomorrow!

Announcements:

Homeroom students are remined to bring in their dollar to cover the cost of mailing home their 4th quarter report cards and other documents.  An envelope was provided to students and should be filled out and deposited in the black box for school funds.  Students who do not bring in a dollar for postage and mailing will need to have their parents schedule an appointment during the summer to come to school and pick up this paperwork.

Announcements:

Students are to bring in their textbooks that were issued and kept at home tomorrow, Thursday, May 7. 

 

Parents and students:  Information regarding the swine flu from the CDC has been placed on our web site.  We are encouraging students to wash their hands and to carry individual sized hand sanitizes in purses, etc.   Our school always has soap, hot water and paper towels.  In addition, most of us have hand sanitizes on our desks for student use.  Please speak with your student at home about the importance of washing hands, covering mouths when sneezing, etc.

***Students who have already read this in their ELA class will be given another novel to read.  Since there is only one class set available for Mr. O’Brien’s 4 classes, students won’t be allowed to take them home.  Students may acquire a personal copy to read at home from a library or bookstore.
