Week of 3/3 - 3/7/08

1st Period
This week we are working on verbs:  the four principal parts and tenses.  This is all leading up to our agreement unit.
Monday - students took notes on the six simple tenses and had workbook pp. 111-114 as homework.
Tuesday - we will look at the four principal parts of troublesome verbs such as lie vs. lay.  We will then also discuss raise vs. rise, sit vs. set, and can vs. may.  All of this information will be on a quiz on Wednesday.  Homework - Verb Practice Packet
Wednesday - quiz on 4 principal parts.   Workbook pp.  115 - 116
Thursday - more practice with lie/lay and verb tenses.  We will also add the progressive form to the notes. We will be working through some of the exercises in the textbook.  Homework - wkbk pp. 117-120.
Friday - quiz on verb usage - especially troublesome verbs!  Then, we will discuss the research project and do the preliminary background work to begin research on Monday.

2nd/4th Periods
Monday - After a CRCT warm-up, we began to discuss the four principal parts of verbs. Homework - wkbk pp. 112-114.
Tuesday - We discussed lie vs. lay, may vs. can, raise vs. rise, etc.  Homework:  Verb Practice Packet
Wednesday - We took notes on the six simple tenses of verbs (present, past, future, present perfect, past perfect, and future perfect).  Homework workbook pp. 115 - 116.
Thursday - We discussed the progressive form and the perfect-progressive tense before practicing with the troublesome verbs using www.chompchomp.com.  I recommend practice with this site at home.
