Happy Leap Year Day ! ! !  Good Luck to you Sadie Hawkins!

No Blog yesterday, there was a substitute, I had a Professional Learning Day.

Ch. 15 Test - Atmosphere today.  Make-ups are done during the help-sessions.  Next Wednesday, 3/5/08, students who missed Ch. 15 Test should come in 10 or 15 minutes before the help-session begins to get test materials.  Help-sessions begin @ 8:20 am.

Warm-up:

  • Place your AR test or your 5X8 notecard on top of your book log in your student agenda.  I will collect and sign log from your table.
  • Self-check Ch. 15 Assignment and turn in for a CW grade.
  • Self-check GR wkbk pages 185-188

Classwork:

  • Chapter 15 Test - Atmosphere
  • Read Current Science Magazine silently until all are finished and materials have been collected.

Homework:  NONE  :)  Enjoy the weekend!

Take-Home Lab activity "Working Under Pressure" due:  March 5th

Warm-up:

  • Complete GR wkbk pages 185-187
  • Add Graphic Organizer - The Layers of the Earth to your CW section of your SCI NB.  List the characteristics of each layer.  Use your textbook pages 515-520.

Classwork:

  • Vocab Quiz (sec. 1 & 3)
  • Scaling the Atmosphere model.  Using notes from the internet and following both listening and oral directions you will create a scaled model of the atmosphere

Warm-up:

  • Place HW WS(19) in basket
  • Read section 15.4, pages 515-520 and do GR wkbk pages 185-187
  • Frayer Model Vocab Booklet - add Mercury and Aneroid Barometer

Classwork:

  • Self-check HW WS(19) and GR wkbk pages 182-184
  • Density WS (3rd and 6th) - turn in when complete for a CW grade
  • Make a Scale Model of the Atmosphere

Homework:  Study for vocab quiz tomorrow on sections 1 & 3 (weather, atmosphere, ozone, water vapor, density, pressure, air pressure, barometer, mercury barometer, aneroid barometer, altitude)

Help-session tomorrow @ 8:20, those taking a make-up test should show up 5-10 minutes earlier to get started before the help-session.

  • Take notes from Internet site "Introduction to the Atmosphere"
  • Discuss the Goldilocks Principle and make a model of the atmospheres of Venus, Earth, and Mars.  Answer questions in Journal section of SCI NB

Oceanography

Media Center Visit for book check-out (SIP Monthly book:  due - Feb. 29th)

  • This month your book will be collected by your science teachers.  As soon as you finish your book, take the AR test and turn in to your science teacher.  Those of you who read a book that is not AR, turn in your 5X8 notecard by Feb. 29th and have your science teacher initial your log in your agenda.
  • Ms. Moore's science classes:  do not confuse this book with your class requirement, 1 book related to topics studied during 9 week grading period, due - March 14th.
