Volcanoes!

Essential Question(s) for Unit:

  • How do the forces within the earth affect the formations of the Earth's surface?

Essential Question(s) for Lesson: 

  • Where are Earth's volcanic regions found, and why are they found there?

Key Terms:  volcano, magma, lava, Ring of Fire, island arc, hot spots

Warm-up:

  • Complete Current Science magazine articles "The Big Drop", "Buried Secrets", and "Discoveries".  Write your answers to the corresponding sections on a seperate sheet of paper.  Turn in when complete.  Due today.
  • Read section 6.1 pages 178-181, do GR wkbk pages 63-65
  • New HW packet for Ch. 6 given to students today.  Due:  Tue. 12/11

Classwork:

  • Work on Ppt slides for presention.

  • Read Issue 4, Current Science magazine and complete corresponding WS sections for the following articles:  Buried Secret (p. 6-7), The Big Drop (p. 4-5), and Discoveries (p. 12)

Computer Lab - Media Center

Creating Slides for our powerpoint project

Warm-up:

  • Make sure you have your section outlined.
  • Each group was assigned a topic and corresponding chapter from textbook.
  • Each member of group chose a section to outline and focus on in the group presentation and creation of slides.

Classwork:

  • Each student creates a "Title" slide for their section of the topic project.
  • 2nd and 3rd slides of content were added.
  • All slides will be created in the classroom with instructions from Ms. Moore

Homework:  Ch. 5 Quiz tomorrow (Sec. 5.1, 5.2, & 5.4)

Help-session on Thursdays @ 8:15 am, if you need to makeup a quiz or test, be here @ 8:00 am.
