AR project "Bingo" sheets

As of today, All students have received a "BINGO" project sheet.  This is a menu of projects to be done after completing the monthly AR books. 

For November, students are free to choose any one of the projects listed.  (that project will then get my initial and it will be crossed off the sheet) 

The due date for the November AR project is Wednesday Dec. 2nd- This is the Wednesday after returning from Thanksgiving break.  

Leaves of Thanks

The Media Center is asking reading students to nominate a book for the Dickerson Book Awards and /or share the name of a book they are thankful for. 

Students are going home today with construction paper leaves.  They need to write , Title of book, and Aurhor on the leaf along with their name.  On the piece of paper attached to the leaf,they are to write 'Why they are thankful' for this book.   (Did they love the story?, did it start them on a series?, was it so good it made them want to check out another as soon as they finished it...?) With this leaf, they are also nominating this book for the Dickerson Book Award.  Students can also include information on why other students would like this book as well.

November happenings

This month our book looks have shifted genres to children's stories and picture books.  Students are evaluating stories, illustrations, and determining author's purpose. (PIEE)

Our next Literary Terms test will be onn Thursday 11/19 on words #21-30.  Students have been given new words and definitions and by now should have glued them on notecards to practice.

This month's AR book/test is due on 11/30 -Monday after Thanksgiving break.  Students who complete  their book before Thanksgiving are encouraged to take the AR test before the break.

In December we're working on fluency and prosody (ask students to fill you in)  In the meantime, students need to be tracking down that favorite book form their younger years. Preferably the book that they asked to be read to them over and over and over again.  Details to follow on the project expectations. 

Reminder- current events are due every Thursday and students are to be reading 30 minutes each evening (at least one book per month) and recording it on their reading logs.
