el 12 de mayo - Review hw and preterite tense.  Sentences on board and practice for test with white boards.  HW = Two sided worksheet to practice preterite tense.

el 13 de mayo - Review hw, practice preterite tense, and play "¿Quién quiere ser un millionario?" (Who wants to be a millionaire) to practice for chpter 7 test.  HW = STUDY!!

el 14 de mayo - Chapter 7 Exam (Topics are on previous post)  HW = Video projects due tomorrow

Los Tópicos del Examen: 1) Las Preguntas - 10 of the 14 questions given on Fri (9/5/08) will be on the test.     2) La Ropa - Know clothing vocabulary with articles and color.  Ex:  una falda roja     3) el progresivo- Describe pictures using the present progressive tense     4) El Pretérito - List preterite endings of regular ar and er/ir verbs and irregular verb ir (to go).     5) Más pretérito - Place correct verb in blank with correct conjugation     6) Los números - Know how to write out numbers 1 - 99,999     7) Traducir - Know all vocab and verbs from chapter 7 vocab sheet.  8) La Composición - 6 sentences explaining what you did last weekend (use preterite tense).

el 6 de mayo - Review numbers and number worksheet.  Body part vocab practiced with vocab cards, Simón dice.  Discussion of verb doler.  HW = wkbk p.92 ex 8 and 9, study body part vocab for quiz

el 7 de mayo - Review and take quiz. Discuss topics of chapter 7 test (on next post).  Intro to present progressive tense.  Complete worksheet and discuss.  HW = p. 80 in wkbk

el 8 de mayo - Review hw and present progressive tense.  Compare progressive to present and future tenses by translating and answering questions on white boards.  HW = study progressive for quiz.

el 9 de mayo - Review and take quiz.  Intro to preterite.  HW= Finish 11 sentences, complete 14 test questions

During CRCT testing classes will have met 3 times.  Regular schedule resumes on Wed. (30/4/08)

For class on Wed (30/4/08) - The following should be completed ; english definitions of clothing vocab, 2 worksheets, vocab cards for clothing and seasonal clothing, cards studied in preparation for quiz.

el 30 de abril - Review hw, review clothing vocab and take quiz. Discuss article, noun, and adjective agreement using clothes and color.  Cinco de mayo sign-up sheet.  HW = worksheet to practice noun/adj agreement

el primero de mayo - Review hw.  Definitions of new verbs and do 5 translations using clothing and new verbs.  Intro and practice numbers 1 - 1,000,000.  Discuss final project.  HW = Bring Span/Eng dictionary and do workbook p.69 ex 20 and 21 only.  Disney students may pick up work to be given on Fri which is due on Tues (6/5/08).  Remember to bring in cinco de mayo item for Monday (5/5/08).

el dos de mayo - Substitute teacher will give 2 worksheets to practice #s.  Look up body part vocab.  Do worksheet on body vocab and make vocab cards.  All work due on Tuesday (6/5/08). HW = Remember to bring sign -up item for Monday

El Examen del Capítulo 6

The Chapter 6 Exam is on Apr.22 ( martes, el 22 de abril) - Study session is that morning at 8:10 am.  Dos excusas son:  Se me olvidó (I forgot) y No lo recuerdo (I don't remember it).

Los Tópicos del Examen :

1. Las Preguntas = 9 questions pulled from the 18 question worksheet to be given in class on Fri (18/4/08). 

2. La Familia = Vocab from first section of ch.6 vocab sheet.  I describe family member in Spanish, they write the Span vocab word.  EX:   ________ es el hijo de los tíos    = el primo

3. El Color del pelo y los ojos - Pictures in front of room.  Students must state hair and eye color of each person in picture. Vocab from 2nd section of Vocab list.

4.  Los adjetivos - Students write opposite of Spanish word. Most adjectives are taken from "Las Descripciones" section of vocab sheet.  Some are from Bella y la Bestia vocab.

5. Los Posesivos - Possessive adjectives.  Know what they are and how to use them in a gramatically correct phrase.  EX: __our__ abuelo   =  nuestro      Refer to notes and bottom of 1st side of vocab list.

6. Los Cuartos de La Casa - I describe a room in the house, they write spanish vocab word.  EX: Es donde miras la televisión =  la sala de estar   - Vocab is on back of ch 6 vocab sheet

7. 3 Verbos (salir, hacer, poner) - Know what each verb means and how to conjugate all three. - Refer to notes and vocab list or p.52 in workbook

8. Los Quehaceres y los verbos deber, necesitar, tener+que+infinitive - Know chore vocab and the verbs should, to need, and to have to ____.  Chore vocab is on back of ch 6 vocab list.  Verbs are in notes and p.50 in workbook

9. Translation Section -  Translate 3 of the 5 sentences on exam.  Know all verbs and vocab previously mentioned

10.  Reading section - Know all verbs and vocab previously mentioned to fill in blanks of sentences based on a short written dialogue.

14/4/08 - 18/4/08

el 14 de abril - Chat in Spanish about spring break (intro to preterite tense), review vocab we were working on before break (rooms and chores), intro to verbs hacer , poner, and salir.  Answer questions with 3 verbs, then work on oral activity in groups of two.  HW = study rooms and chore vocab cards, study 3 verbs (hacer, poner, salir) and do p. 52  in wkbk

el 15 de abril - Review p. 52, review vocab, and take quiz.  Discuss topics on next test (next test is el 22 de abril).  Test topics will be detailed in next post.  Intro to possessive adjectives.  HW = p.46 in wkbk.

el 16 de abril - Review hw, review possessive adjectives.  Practice activity on computer.  Discuss non-use of apostrophes and show short video.  HW = study possessive adjectives for quiz

el 17 de abril - Review on white boards.  Take quiz, start two sided hw worksheet in class and finish for hw

el 18 de abril - With substitute teacher, complete questions 1-18 (many of these questions will be on the test).  Complete practice packet.  HW = finish work not completed in class and study for the test.

31/3/08 - 4/4/08

el 31 de marzo -  Review new vocab, make and discuss vocab cards.  Verbs deber, necesitar, and tener + que + infinitive to express obligations with chores.  HW = bring hw from Friday (p.51), do two sided worksheet, and bring vocab cards

el primero de abril - Review p.51 and worksheet.  Discuss vocab cards, review rooms and chores with obligation verbs.  Answer questions about their chores.  Discuss vocab in power point.  HW = 5 sentences to translate, bring pencil to class tomorrow

el 2 de abril - Performing Arts assembly will cause us to miss 2nd and most of 3rd period.  Periods 1, 6, and 7 will make floor plan project

el 3 de abril - Review verbs and vocab.  Practice on white boards. HW = p. 50

el 4 de abril - If not in pod A, bring tissues for field day - HA!!!!    Durante la clase, bailamos la salsa.     HW = make sure p. 50 is completed, and review vocab cards over vacation

el 24 de marzo - Compositions due. Intro to new vocab (front page of ch 6 vocab sheet).  Practice family vocab.  Discuss family tree from info on computer.  HW = two sided worksheet to practice family vocab

el 25 de marzo - Review homework.  Create definitions for family vocab words.  Answer questions about family members and discuss with partner.  HW = p. 47 in wkbk and study family vocab for quiz

el 26 de marzo - Review p. 47 and take quiz. Practice hair color and eye color vocab describing people on power point presentation.  Discuss adjective placement and agreement.  HW = p. 47 and ex7 on p.48

el 27 de marzo - Review hw.  Practice personality adjectives with questions like ¿Como eres? and other conjugations of ser.  Translations to practice more difficult vocabulary.  HW = study all vocab on front side of ch 6 vocab sheet. Quiz tomorrow (28/3).  Bring Span/Eng dictionary to class on Friday

el 28 de marzo - Substitute teacher will administer quiz.  Students will look up vocab on back of ch 6 vocab list in class and do p.51 in wkbk.  No HW if work is completed in class. Vocab definitions and p.51 will count as a homework grade.

17/3/08 - 21/3/08

el 17 de marzo - Discuss movie vocab with an intro to vocab in next two chapters (family and clothes).  Watch movie.  HW = vocab word unscramble and make 10 vocab cards.

el 18 de marzo - Review hw.  Watch movie.  HW = worksheet of vocab definitions

el 19 de marzo - Review hw and finish movie.  Start hw in class and finish at home ( 20 questions about movie)

el 20 de marzo - Review hw, discuss movie with power point pictures.  Practice vocab cards in groups of two and create sentences about movie. HW = study for quiz

el 21 de marzo - Review and take quiz.  Create 10 sentence composition about movie to be turned in as an additional quiz grade.  Can finish composition for hw if not completed in class.  * I realize many students may be absent due to the holiday.  Those students can turn in the compositon on Mon or Tues of the following week.  They also have 4 weeks to make up the quiz.  Quiz lasts a maximum of 15 minutes and can be taken any morning at 8:40(before homeroom). Purposely will not start new lesson until Monday (24/3/08).
