It is time again to nominate books for our 5th annual Dickerson Book Award. Our book award reading promotion theme this year is “Share Your Heart.” The Reading Raiders thought it would be great to tie in to our year long anti-bullying program, as well as have students share their favorite books and help inspire others to develop a love for reading. Nominations will be posted on the bulletin boards in the media center and in the pod areas through the end of Feb. We will choose the books with the most nominations or the most inspiring nominations for a final vote in May.
There will also be a drawing for prizes in May among the students who nominated one of the final 20 books. In order to qualify as a nomination for the Dickerson Book award the following rules apply:
- 1. Book has to have been written in the past 5 years
- 2. The book cannot be one of the past 1st or 2nd place winners
- 3. Include a brief description of the book and how a character in the book had a caring/loving heart.”
The top 20 book nominations will be selected as finalists based on how many nominations the book receives and the descriptions of the character students chose to “share.”
The Reading Raiders thank you for your help in choosing Dickerson student’s favorite books.
