Cobb Virtual Library

The Cobb Virtual Library is a web site housed by our Media Services dept. made up of wonderful subscription databases that Cobb County Schools subscribe to as a district. Students can access the sites anytime at school or home.  Passwords are required for home use and can be obtained from the media center staff. The web site to access the CVL is: http://cvl.cobbk12.org/

The followning subscritions are included:

  • eLibrary / this database contains full text articles from over 1000 magazines and newspapers, as well as transcripts from TV, radio and government documents, reference books, and photos, images and maps.
  • Galenet Junior Reference Collection has full text reference books. It is also a wonderful resource for biography, science, and history, with wonderful timeline references, information on authors, and multicultural topics. 
  • GALILEO GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online, is provided by the state.  It has full text magazine and newspaper articles as well as great internet resources for the K-12 curriculum relevant to both teachers and students. Galileo's home access password is available from your Media Centerstaff.
  • Worldbook Encyclopedia Online- is based on the World Book Encyclopedia, and features interesting historical facts, information on current events, and help with online resource citations. This is a great source for maps and timelines.
  • Grolier Online provides 3 encyclopedias Grolier's Multimedia Encyclopedia, New Book of Knowledge, and Americana), as well as The New Book of Popular Science, Lands and People, and Americathe Beautiful.
  • Culture Grams - Cultural, geographical and historical information, maps, flags, recipes, and biographies for countries of the world and the fifty states.
