Sites for Science Projects

Destiny, Webpath Express is a great source for finding educational sites for all subjects.  Like Nettrekker, the sites searched on Webpath Express display the readability level.

eLibrary contains many science magazines and reference books.  You can either search for an article on a particular topic, or you can click the "topics" tab, then browse pre-selected periodicals and reference articles available on different topics.

The Cobb Virtual Library houses two other sites with great science information. Grolier's has 3 general encyclopedias in addition to The New Popular Book of Science and 2 other social studies encyclopedias.
The Gale resources are also great for science research as well as biographical, social studies, health, and literature research. The Gale Jr. Reference Collection is for middle schools and Discovering Collection, which has a little more technical language, is used by high schools and some universities.

Welcome

Welcome to our Blog! Information Literacy is applied everyday in the media center.
The Dickerson Media Center houses over 16,000 non-fiction, reference, and fiction books on a wide variety of topics. Students can check up to 3 books for a 2 week time period except reference books which are limited to one at a time for overnight only.

We have 23 computers with access to the internet.  We subscribe to several research databases which include full-text periodical and reference works including general as well as subject specific encyclopedias.
