Use this to complete the choice activity for today!
I apologize for posting this late. The students worked very hard today practicing with pronouns by completing pages 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, and 126 in their grammar workbooks. I was able to help students as needed during class time. The homework was to complete those pages. Since I posted this late, I will allow students to turn in unfinished work on Monday.
Today students began to work with pronouns in the nominative and objective case. We also discussed possessive pronouns. This requires some studying, but is not too difficult. We will work with this for a few days to ensure the students master the work.
HW: None, but it might be a good idea to review your notes daily.
Students began class reviewing sentence types, run-on sentences and sentence fragments. We reviewed direct objects, indirect objects, objects of prepositions and predicate nominatives and then took a quiz over this material.
HW: None
Today students worked with direct an indirect objects, objects of prepositions and predicate nominatives. This will prepare us for our study of object pronouns.
HW: Complete practice worksheet if you did not do so in class.
Today we reviewed yesterday's quiz and practiced more with DO. IO. PN, and PA.
HW: WAG book--p. 420, ex. 54 (if you did not finish this in class).
After taking a quiz on degrees of adjectives, misplaced modifiers and double negatives, students continued with their work on predicate nouns, predicate adjectives and predicate pronouns.
HW: Finish the blue worksheet and chart( Direct Objects, Indirect Objects) and green worksheet and chart ( Predicate Nouns, Predicate Adjectives, and Predicate Pronouns).
I hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable long weekend. It was great to see everyone today; we had a busy day. We examined a few good cause-effect essays and then moved on sentence complements, which include direct and indirect objects, predicate nouns, predicate adjectives and predicate pronouns. We are just beginning our study of this and expect to spend about 3 to 5 days with this.
HW: Study for a quiz on misplaced modifiers-p. 476, double negatives-p. 478, and degrees of adjectives-p.558. The quiz will be tomorrow, 2/21/07.
Today students practices with degrees of adjectives and adverbs, which we worked on yesterday. Some students also practiced some more with cause-effect relationships. Students also "mailed" their Valentine sentences and then enjoyed reading them!
HW: None
HW: Please have you progress report signed. Also, remember to bring in your Valentine sentences so we can "mail" them in class tomorrow.
