HW: Please be sure that you are familiar with these short story elements: Setting, Inciting Incident, Conflict, Climax, Resolution and Theme. On Friday, the students will be asked to read a short story and apply these literary elements to that story. No other homework.
Students continued to revise and edit their short stories today. All final drafts are due at the end of class tomorrow. If any student needs help with the rough draft, I will be available in the E4 lab tomorrow at 8:15.

HW: Read "Sarah Tops" on page 74 in the Writing and Grammar Text book. Based on the story, please fill out the Literary Elements worksheet that was given in class.

Students worked in the computer lab today typing the rough drafts of their short stories. We will meet in the lab on Monday for those who need to finish. Those who are finished typing will do some revision work. Please bring your Writing and Grammar book to the lab. Have a great weekend.

Thanks to all the students who returned his or her progress report today.
After we discuseed good ways to begin their short story, the students finished writing the rough draft. Some students were able to begin to make revisions to the story. We will meet in the computer lab tomorrow to type.

Students continued to work on their short stories in class. Today we discussed the importance of a good theme to a short story, and made sure everyone had selected a theme to write about. Students also sequenced their story in class.

September 14--Students took the Literature test and worked on a writing assignment. No Homework.
September 17-Students began to outline their short story. Please finish for homework.
HW: Study for the test on Friday by: Reviewing the vocabulary words, and author information, reviewing all short story elements (plat diagrams) for "All Summer in a Day", and "A Day's Wait", and reviewing the SOAPStone sheet for "Seventh Grade". Also review similes, metaphors, personification and idioms.
