Today we edited and revised our resumes; I look forward to reading them. We will be back in the classroom tomorrow.  Please review for the Parts of Speech quiz that will be given on Friday.  Review your prepositions and adverbs. Have a nice evening.

Today students typed their first draft of their resumes; we are off to a great start with this technical writing piece.  Have a great weekend.

HW:

1. No homework was assigned for the weekend.

2. Book contract signed by parents, please try to return on Tuesday.  Quiz on the Parts of Speech on Friday, 8/24.  Quiz 8/31 on Running Out to Time.

We continued with the parts of speech review today.  We had a great discussion as we categorized different types of technical writing. Finally, the first draft of the resume was peer edited.  Tomorrow we will go to the computer lab to type the resumes.

HW:

1. Have books covered and book contract signed by your parents by next Tuesday.

2.  Remember that the Parts of Speech quiz will be next Friday, August 24, and the Running Out of Time test will be Friday, August 31.

We continued a review the parts of speech in preparation for a quiz on Friday, August 24.  Students were given notes today, on blue paper, and these can be used to review the material at home in conjunction with what we do in class.  We also tool notes on technical writing and began the rough draft of that documen, a resume.

HW

1.  First draft of the resume, please use the outline provided.  Be sure to follow the directions for each sections.

2.  Quiz on the parts of speech: August 24.  Quiz on summer reading book, Running Out of Time, August 31.  You do not need a "book card" ; we will have a quiz instead.

Today we spent some time reviewing the 8 parts of speech completed an exercise on that topic. We also discussed and began to plan for a technical writing piece, a resume.  Please be sure to think about what you are going to write, and then fill in the worksheet.

HW:
1.  Resume brainstorming sheet is due tomorrow. 

2.  Have your language arts notebook by next Tuesday.  A one and a half inch binder will work well.

Welcome to my blog!  I am looking forward to a great year in language arts class.  Today we discussed classroom procedures, reviewed parts of speech and started an assignment, "My life in a Sentence".

HW:

1.  Complete the "My life in a Sentence" activity. Pay careful attention to  section VI on the directions, this is how I will grade your work.

2.  Have your parent letter signed and have your parents complete their homework.
