May 12 to May 16

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! It's hard to believe that we will soon be done with school; we will continue to work up until the last day, and I have outlined this week's work below:

This week we will continue our study of the novel, Nothing but the Truth by reading and discussing it daily The students will enter vocabulary words in their notebooks as we move through the book.  A vocabulary test over the whole book will be on Tuesday, May 20.  We will review the words in class, but please begin to study this week!  Students are allowed and encouraged to bring home their reading notebooks to begin studying.

HW:  Study some of the vocabulary words every day, the entire list has 54 words on it, and you do not want to wait until next Monday night to begin studying.

HW:  If you missed a day of reading and checked out a novel, please read up to page 70.

I have decided to post the work for the week today as it will not change as the days go on.  The students will begin to work on a project that works on their skills with 18 comma rules.  Part of this project requires that the students cut out examples of commas in print; as a result we will need many magazines!  Students may bring in a total of 5 magazines for this activity.

HW:  Monday and Tuesday--bring in 5 magazines that can be cut up for the comma project.   Wed., Thursday and Friday--no homework.
