Sun_playing_with_beach_ball_md_clr Today we took the map and capitals quiz on Western Europe.  The make-up quiz will be on Wednesday at 8:15.  Periods 1 and 4 continued working on their gallery tours, which will be presented on Wednesday.  Periods 2 and 3 worked on their inventions or artistic techniques.  I also collected the summer reading card for social studies.

We discussed the articles on Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.  Periods 1 and 4 began work on their gallery tour and periods 2 and 3 started on Leonardo for a Day.  These projects should be completed by Wednesday, September 5.

We completed the comparison/ contrast of Renaissance and Medieval art.  We then went on to discuss two of the greatest Renaissance artists, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

Homework:  Periods 1 and 4 - Read articles on Michelangelo and da Vinci.  Categorize and chart accomplishments on pages 165 and 166 of notebbok.

Homework:  Period 2 - Read article on Michelangelo.  Chart accomplishments for art and sculpture on page 165 of notebook.

All Classes:  Map/capitals quiz on Western Europe on Friday.  I will collect the summer reading cards on Friday.

Periods 1 and 4:  We reviewed the article from last night.  We discussed and critiqued different paintings from the early Renaissance to the high Renaissance.  We then did a comparison/contrast of a Medieval and Renaissance painting on the same topic.

Period 2:  We reviewed last night's homework.  We discussed and critiqued different paintings from the early Renaissance to the high Renaissance.

Period 3:  We completed the atlas activity, organized our notebooks, and reviewed last night's homework.

Periods 1,4:  We completed the Geography Challenge from Friday.  We began with an introduction to the Renaissance with the world history atlas.  Homework:  Read the article "The Renaissance: An Overview of a New Age."  Please do not write on it.  Complete the organizer.

Periods 2,3:  We reviewed the map and capitals of Western Europe.  We began with an introduction to the Renaissance with the world history atlas.  Homework:  Read pages 301-304 in your text and complete the questions.

All Classes:  The map and capitals quiz on Western Europe will be on Friday.

Peiods 1 and 4 began work on the Renaissance with a geography challenge on a map from the time period.  We will complete the activity on Monday.  No assignment

Periods 2 and 3 identified countries from Western Europe and major bodies of water on a political map.  Homework:  Complete the Wetern European portion of the map and the capitals of Western Europe.

All classes:  There will be a map/capitals quiz next week on Western Europe.  I will give you the exact day on Monday.  Have a wonderful weekend!

World Periods 1 and 4:  Complete the political map and capitals of Europe for tomorrow.  If you did not finish labeling your map, you can use pages 262-269 of your textbook to help you.

Periods 2 and 3:  We completed the introduction to using the world history atlas and the absolute locations of European cities.  Your assignment is to make sure that your assignments are completed and corrected and to have your notebook updated.

Bts_kids_globe We worked on a hands-on activity to show where Europe is located in relation to the rest of the world.  We also discussed absolute and relative locations.  There is no assignment.

We finished the introduction to using the world history atlas.  We also reviewed hemispheres, latitude, and longitude.  All notebooks must be completely put together.  I will be randomly checking them for a notebook grade within the next two weeks.

Don't forget to remind your parents of Open House tonight at 6:30.  I can't wait to meet them.
