Today, students took their quiz on irregular verbs in the G group and O changes to UE. We talked about the main characters of the movie Ratatouille, went over vocabulary and watched another segment of the movie.

Today we reviewed for the quiz on the first two groups of irregular verbs (add "g" and change "o" to "ue").

We also checked the food vocabulary and other vocabulary related to the movie. We watched the first 4 scenes of it. We will be discussing  them tomorrow.

Today we reviewed the -er/-ir verbs, the meanings and the conjugations for the exam on Friday.

They also worked on their vocabulary of the movie "Ratatouille"

HOMEWORK/TAREA; If students did not finish looking up all the words during class, they need to finish them for homework.

Today we studied the verbs in the last two groups of irregulars: Verbs that change "e" to "ie" and verbs that change "e" to "i". Students worked on some sentences to practice them.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Memorize conjugations of verbs in these two groups.

Today we reviewed the irregular verbs of the first two groups and practiced their conjugation. We finished the translation of sentences and checked homework.

Today we reviewed irregular verbs to which you add a "g" to personal pronoun "yo". We introduced verbs that change the "o" for "ue". Students used the verbs in these two groups in sentences.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: memorize conjugation of verbs in second group of irregulars. Translate sentences in second page of irregular verbs worksheet.

Today, students had their quiz on -er/-ir verbs. We reviewed conjugations of verbs in this group and introduced irregular verbs to which you add a "G".

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Students need to memorize those verbs and practice their conjugation.

We will have a test on conjugations of regular verbs on Jan. 27.

The New Year kicks off from 1-5pm with the Hispanic holiday festival, Dia de Reyes or Three Kings Day, held in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate and the Instituto de Mexico. Learn about this tradition through storytelling, music, live performances, complimentary food for children, and lots of fun. This program is free to the public, but space is limited and does not include museum admission.

 

Practica de verbos -er/-ir

Martes 17 de enero de 2012.

We reviewed -er/-ir verbs with a power point. We also went over conjugation endings of the verbs in these two groups. We checked the answers on conjugation chart.

Students also practiced in small groups the conjugation of these verbs, they had to use the pronouns dice and their vocabulary cards to conjugate any given verb. In the same groups, students translated the verbs in the form the teacher requested them, i.e. Como se dice "I read"? = yo leo.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Memorize the -er/-ir verbs and the corresponding meanings in English. We will have a vocabulary quiz on these verbs on Friday January 20.

 

Verbos -er / -ir

Viernes 13 de enero de 2012.

Students took a pre-test on -er and -ir verbs. Then, they were presented with the verbs that belong to these two groups. They made vocabulary cards on them.

They also discussed conjugation endings for these verbs and completed the conjugation charts. In some classes, students worked on the translation of 10 sentences on page 3 of their packet. Those who did not have enough time, need to do the translations for homework.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Finish vocabulary cards and translation of sentences 1 to 10 on page 3 of packet if you did not have enough time during class.

Recognizing cognates

Jueves 12 de enero de 2012.

Students discussed the definition of cognates, recognized the characteristics of them, discussed the different endings of English words and their corresponding endings in Spanish.

They grouped words according to the endings, the fields of study, word formation,etc.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Finish packet.
