Los numeros y las expresiones de la clase

HOy es 29 de agosto de 2011.

Today we reviewed numbers 30 to 100 in tens. The teacher said the numbers and students had to write the actual number, later students spelled those numbers to the classmates.

We reviewed the second set of expressions to be used in the classrooms. Using the cards they did for homework we played bingo and in some classes students even played memory with them.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Memorize numbers and their spelling 3- to 100.

IMPORTANT: The vocabulary quiz this Friday will be on all classroom expressions and numbers 0 to 100.

Today we watched a video to review expressions on the quiz. Students answered the quiz and then worked in partners to answer a worksheet on numbers.

HOMEWORK/TAREA: Make vocabulary cards on classroom expressions. Remember use only the Spanish expressions on one side and leave blank the other side.

Today we reviewed the numbers 0-20, students counted forwards and backwards then in small groups they had to show the number that was called by the teacher. In the same groups, they played hangman spelling any of those numbers.

We finished discussing the rest of the expressions to be used in the classroom.

Today students selected their Spanish names. They also practiced the first set of classroom expressions using TPR and identifying them in writing as well. We played Simon says for additional practice.

We introduced numbers 0-20 and read them from a list paying special attention to the spelling of those numbers.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Practice reading the numbers outloud.

Today we reviewed the cognates, students spelled them in a group activity. We also introduced some of the expressions that are commonly used in the classroom. They roll played them and then completed a worksheet with them.

HOMEWORK/TAREA: Students need to make flashcards with the expresssions of the class learned today. They have to write the Spanish expression on one side and leave blank the other side. No English on the cards!!!

REMEMBER:

Friday August 26th we have our first vocabulary quiz. It will be on spelling cognates and questions/vocabulary to introduce oneself to someone else. Questions and answers used for the same purpose.

STUDY SESSION will be tomorrow at 8:15 am. Please go first to the cafeteria and I will meet students there.

Los cognados

Today we reviewed the alphabet, students spelled words in their small groups. We read a list of cognates in Spanish and students had to find out what they meant in English. Later in groups of two they spelled those words to each other.

We introduced numbers 1 to 30 as well.

TAREA/HOMEWORK: Finish the list of cognates (numbers 31 to 50), read the words out loud paying special attention to the pronunciation of the vowels and spell the words out loud as well.

Today we reviewed the alphabet and practised spelling of first names using the question: Como se deletrea tu nombre?

We also watched a video about the alphabet, letter sounds, exceptions and cognates.

Today we reviewed the expressions used in a basic conversation, students worked on a worksheet completing a dialogue, they need to finish the second page of worksheet for homework.

We practiced alphabet pronunciation and then talked about how to use a bilingual dictionary, how to find some letters that no longer appear in the new dictionaries as letters on its own (ch, ll). Finally we discussed the different pronunciation of some letters (ch, h, rr, r) and gave them some examples.

HOMEWORK/TAREA:

Students need to continue practising the alphabet, review the notes on pronunciation and finish worksheet given in class (side 2)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

1. Help sessions are held on Wednesday mornings at 8:15 am, please report to cafeteria first and students will be dismissed to my classroom when I come to get them.
2. Tests and quizzes this nine weeks are on Wednesdays and Fridays.


Our first vocabulary quiz will be on August 26.

Today we reviewed the expressions learned on the worksheet "Las introducciones". Students had a matching activity in which they had to find the English and the Spanish expressions. They also practiced the expressions in small groups and finally they identified which questions corresponded to specific answers and made up a conversation with the.

We introduced the Spanish alphabet to the class. Practiced the pronunciation of the vowels and consonants, talked abouth some differences in sounds of consonants between English and Spanish. Students need to practice the alphabet. Please check the link below for a listening/repeating activity.

Las introducciones

Today we reviewed the question learned yesterday: ¿Cómo te llamas?  Me llamo..., students asked each other this question and we also introduced the question: ¿Cuál es tu apellido?   Mi apellido es.....    This time students had the opportunity to introduced themselves to many people in the class. They also learned the importance of shaking hands when meeting people.

Other expressions were also introduced:

• ¿Cómo estás?/¿ Que tal? - estoy bien/ más o menos/ mal/ enfermo/ cansado.
• ¿Cuántos años tienes? Tengo ____ años.
• ¿De dónde eres?  Soy de ________
