Good evening,

today we worked a bit on cause and effect as we did the previous day. I feel quite confident that they understand it. Tomorrow we will discuss problem and solution.

Please remember to keep up with your reading. We are half way through the grading period and some of the students have zero points. This grade isn't evident on their  progress report, as I take the grade at the end of the marking period.

Good evening,

today we searched through our books for challenging vocabulary. The students copied the sentence with the words they chose from their book and then they looked them up in the dictionary. They turned this in for a completion grade. I will compile all of our words and use them throughout the year for our vocabulary lists.

Please continue to read. There is a reading log due Thursday, but since the log begins on Friday and you were out you may count Monday Through Thursday only.

Dear parents and students,

today we began sharing excerpts from our books. The students were very respectful of each other. I think the students were intrigued by many of the passages they heard and will have  books from their list to check out from the media center when looking for something new.

Please get your reading log signed.

The students will not have to fill out a reading log next week, but hopefully will want to read.

Dear parents and students,

today we finished a lesson on compare and contrast. We will be revisiting

periodically throughout the year. 

Tomorrow we will go to the media center to check out and renew books.

On Friday the students will be having a book share with the class. Each student will present in front of the room, they will write their name, the title  and the author's name. Each student will then write that information down. The presenter is then responsible for reading  approximately three paragraphs from the book. They are to read something exciting without telling too much of the story. The purpose is to intrigue the students in the class  enough to want to read that book.

Today we worked on comparing and contrasting groups of food and other grouped items. Tomorrow the students will be accessing two folders saved to the computer They will independently evaluate two distinctly different objects for a compare and contrast chart.

Continue to read 30 minutes nightly.

Today we actually had some silent reading time ,as well as, learning a bit about Veterans day.

We will be using the laptop computers in class Monday and Tuesday. Will use them to access information on non-fiction texts to complete  Compare and contrast and cause and effect charts as ways to organize information.

Dear parents and students,

please continue to read for your alloted thirty minutes.

We have begun  working on organizational structures of non-fiction text. We will work on these for the next five weeks.

We will also continue compiling vocabulary words for the students to learn.

Dear parents and students,

please remember to get your reading logs signed. I will work on the quizzes today and tomorrow and hopefully will have them back tomorrow or Monday. I will be posting the sentence grades tomorrow.

Good evening,

we are having a quiz over the twenty-six vocabulary words. The format will be the same as it was for the previous quizzes. 26 matching and 26 fill in the blank. Here is the link for 1-13 , the second list canbe obtained on Mrs. Larkin's BLOG.Download Vocabulary for Maximum Ride 2 The words begin with Jarringly and end at contemptuously.In reality all the students should have these words in their notebooks.

I will have their sentence grades posted on Thursday.
