Did you EVER think this day would arrive? Or is it just teachers who are eager for a vacation? You know what your homework is. Yes, you DO have homework over the break. You are to read to get a head start on the January AR test. You are also to do something special for your family to show that you are happy to be part of your family. Today you all had the Science Checkpoint Test. 8th graders, you had the science checkpoint AND the social studies mid-term. Thursday 8th graders have a science final and a math final. This is a busy week for tests.
Five 8th graders and one 7th grader have not taken an AR test for December. You have 2 days left.
Also, reading logs are due on Thursday, 12/22/11, and not on Friday this week. Can you guess why?

You have SO many exams, and speaking of exams, don't forget to come to my room between 8:00-8:15 tomorrow to begin your science mid-term. If you arrive later than 8:15, you will not be permitted to come to my class.
Tomorrow is the science checkpoint. You will take part one in my class and then finish in your science class.

Thank goodness it is Friday. I still have much to do to prepare for the holidays. You do also...read! You have four school days to finish your December AR book. Today you discussed indefinite pronouns and homonyms. Next week you will finish up the vocabulary and skills for Milestones A and C; then you will have a post-test (before the holiday break.) Have a great weekend!
Use the indefinite pronoun "none" in two clauses. Use none as a singular subject and none as a plural subject.

I hope you all enjoyed your "delayed-Thanksgiving" lunch today. If this was your first taste of America comfort food, I hope you found it delicious. You now understand why meals this heavy and rich are only eaten a few times a year. Why did I say the food is rich?

FYI to 8th graders: Look on Ms. Dickerson's blog for the social studies power points and study guides for the government test on Thursday, 12/15 and for the mid-term exam on Tuesday, 12/20.
Today you all took part 1 of the math checkpoint test in my class and then finished part 2 in your math class. You also read silently after the test. Next Tuesday you will do the same thing, but the test will be science. This silent reading should help you to finish your December AR book. Tomorow you will continue the stories you began yesterday. See yesterday's blog for the vocabulary words. Sorry, no dog question.

Today you began the second reading in your Milestones text. You received new vocabulary words: Milestones C: classify, entangled, glisten, hum, snare, stomp. Milestones A: conclusions, recognize, belong, role, tradition, ancient.
Tomorrow you will not be reading, though, you will be taking the Math Checkpoint Test, first section. When you finish, you will read silently. DON'T COME TO CLASS WITHOUT A SILENT READING BOOK. Hummm... to whom am I speaking?
