You actually have home work tonight besides reading for 30 minutes. Read and complete the worksheet I gave you in class. Disregard the word "heteronyms" and substitute "homographs" instead. ON THE BACK make a list of all the linking verbs.
Only one more day until a week's vacation from school; think of ALL the reading you can do! AR tests will be due when you return to school.

Whew! I am so glad the ACCESS tests are over. I know you are, too. Today you had some pretty good Homograph presentations. You will finish the presentation that weren't ready today.
Here are some important dates at Dickerson:
February 16- 4 1/2 Week Progress Reports ( Return them to me with parent signatures)
February 21-25- NO SCHOOL. Winter Break (Hooray!)
March 3- Picture Day (Look "purty")

Today in class everyone worked on the Homograph project, which is due tomorrow. You will present your homographs and explain what they mean.
Also, tomorrow the last ACCESS test will be given (Hooray!) Tier C will have the writing test in the same class where you met today.
Hello Everybody and Happy Friday!
I had not forgotten you this week, I have been busy with other business. Next week the ACCESS test will end. (Hooray!) Many of you have already finished! I will test Tier C for Listening and Reading on Tuesday morning and the Writing on Wednesday afternoon. You will receive a pass to come to 6 A-5 from your home room teacher.
On Monday you will continue to work on your Homograph projects. What you don't finish in class on Monday will be homework Monday night. The presentations will be Tuesday. If you want to work on it this weekend, I suggest that you have your eight definitions and pronunciations ready for Monday.
Remember that Monday is Valentine's Day and if you want to exchange cards, that is fine, but the bus drivers will not let you bring balloons and flowers in vases on the bus. IF you bring flowers to school for a friend, he or she must carry them around all day(ugh!)

Hello Everybody!
If you took the ACCESS test this morning with me, you will also test tomorrow afternoon at 1:45 in that same class room. On Thursday and Friday of this week I will finish giving the Speaking portion of the test. You all will have finished the Speaking test by Friday. Tier C students will have their Listening/ Reading test Tuesday, February 15th at 10:15, and the Writing test Wednesday, Feb, 16th at 1:45.
In class you worked on vocabulary and recognizing audience. 8th graders began writing possessive nouns correctly. 7th grade will have this as a warm up.

ACCESS testing continues. Tomorrow these people will have the SPEAKING test: John,Yewan, David, Maria, Jesus, Euna, Alex. Your home room teacher will have a hall pass to come to me or Mrs. Thompson.

Today you reviewed vocabulary words from last week's story and this week's story. Tomorrow you will begin the guided reading.
Now, a word from the administration:
Dear Parents,
The administrative team and our teachers want for your child have the best school day possible. To that end, ensuring that students are appropriately dressed according to the Dickerson dress code will help students to get their day off on the right track without being asked to call home for a change of clothes. As the year progresses, there are some specific dress issues that
administration have been addressing frequently. The following dress code violations will continue to be addressed, and students will be asked to change.
· Low-cut tops and camisoles that expose cleavage
· Short skirts - with and without leggings (1 inch above the knee is a good rule of thumb)
· Leggings worn alone
· Bra straps and/or undergarments exposed
· Sagging pants
We are having concerns with yoga pants and other type stretch pants. Sometime they are more revealing and form fitting than parents or students realize. We appreciate your consideration in as these types of garments are not appropriate school wear.
As you can imagine, we could never predict the next fashion break thru. We really rely on our parents' support to promote a school environment that is one focused on learning, not fashion.
Please review the dress code in the student's agenda and help them come to school each day dressed for success!

Happy February, Everybody!
Have you taken your January AR test yet? Today I began the ACCESS test with several students. You will receive a pass to come to me when it is your turn to be tested and you can also come to me to check on when your test will be.
You began a new reading selection today about a new student who decides to go to a performing arts school. The story vocabulary words are solution, trigger, audition, panel, monologue, enunciate, serene, topographer.
Stay warm and dry and read a good book!
