Hello Students,

I appreciate the students who take time to read my blog. I write it for YOUR benefit. This is why we don't use a homework hotline anymore.

Report cards went home today.  Have them signed by parents and then show them to your teacher.  Remember that almost all of this first ESOL grade period was recorded while I was out sick.  I hope you ALL are using the I-Parent to check your grades so that there are no surprises.

Tomorrow, October 23rd, is make-up picture day.  If you were absent (like I was) or if you don't like your pictures, you may have them taken again.  If you are retaking photographs, you will need to bring your complete picture envelope to give to the photographer.

Alarm_jumps_2Are you reading for 30 minutes EVERY night?

Hello 8th Graders!

Today I handed back the quizzes you took on Friday about the Vietnamese folk tale.

You also discussed vocabulary words for Chapter 4, Predicting the Weather: newspaper, television, radio, observation, forecast, weather.  From outside (parking lot) observation you added these adjectives: overcast, breezy, humid.

You will begin reading the chapter tomorrow.

Argboucingsignwinterolympicgames207 Hello 6th Graders!

Today you discussed report card comments, took a pretest on the vocabulary words from last week, and drew the flag for the country you represent for your Olympic project.

Tomorrow you will take a post test (I will grade it!) for the vocabulary words: weight-lifting, speed skating, diving, track and field, baseball.  I will ask you to spell them correctly AND write each in a sentence.

Also tomorrow you will finish your flag and give an oral report of the country you researched.  I want to hear about the country's Olympic history, hear about you being an "athlete," and see the flag.  Practice your oral presentation tonight for homework.

Hello Students and Parents!

This has been a wonderful week.  I am so happy to be back at school.  You have been great students (I remember why I missed you all so much!)

Mrs. Pahawa worked very hard with you and it shows.  I have seen such improvement in English skills from many of you.  Thank you, Mrs. Pahawa!

I want to remind those of you who forgot to have your reading log signed to get it signed this weekend for 8 points.  Reading logs are 10 "Gimme points" each week.  Find out what "gimme" means.  (Hint: it's not proper English.)

Hello 6th Graders!

Today you continued to research your Olympic country to find more information on its Olympic history and to find information about a particular sport. Remember you are to pretend to be an Olympic athlete. What is your sport?  What do you know about it?  Can you explain what it is to the class?  How do you prepare for the Olympics?

On Monday you will take a pretest on the vocabulary words: diving, speed skating, weight-lifting, baseball, track and field.  You will also complete the report part of your project and draw the country's flag.

Enjoy the weekend and read for 30 minutes every day.
