Both classes began a new unit today, and the students received a parent letter (which was to be filed in the "keepers" section of their math binder).

math 6:  solving proportions.  homework:  finish 11-4 enrichment ws and "letter perfect"  Remember the three different solving strategies for proportions.  Consult textbook ch.7, section 3 if needed

math 6/7:  line and rotational symmetry.  homework:  first 3 pages of packet.  Calculate the angle of rotation if applicable.  Bring a ruler to class tomorrow.

math 6:  There is a TEST tomorrow.  Help @ 8:20.  Study and prepare!!  finish the equations on the back of the "24 hour wrecker" ws, and check your answers against the answer key given to you in class. Remember to gather the worksheets to turn in after the test (see yesterday's blog for the detailed listing)  Study all topics....order of operations, evaluating expressions, translating expressions into mathematical equations, and solving equations!

math 6/7:  quiz today...finish "online math league" for homework

Monday, Jan. 28

math 6: There is a TEST on Wednesday.  Help session at 8:20 am on Wed.  tonight's homework:  begin to prepare for the test.  complete the "24-hour wrecker"ws, taking care to note the difference between the addition and division signs (+ looks larger) and solve the first 8 equations on the back.  Gather the worksheets from this unit together and staple them together and turn them in after Wed. test   They are:   1)  worksheet 40/1-2 Practice   2)  spaceship/Frankenstein monster   3)  worksheet  1/ gonzo      4)  matching pairs      5)  handwritten class notes   6)  half-sheet "tv show"    7)  ms. margarine     8)  Algebra teacher   Assemble them in this order, staple, put your name on the front, turn in after the test.  You do not need to include the work/solutuions.  I am checking to make sure your are holding on to the work you have done and have those resources to use for studying.

math 6/7:  there's a quiz tomorrow on translating written

expressions into mathematical equations.  Help at 8:25.  homework:  study!  and complete both "did you hear about..." worksheets

math 6:  we had a quiz today.  homework:  complete "algebra teacher" ws, showing the work as modeled in class....write the equation on the paper beneath the problem, then solve the equation in your spiral. Unit test next Wed. on order of operations, evaluating expressions, translating expressionss, and solving equations.

math 6/7:  weo worked on translating expressions.  homework:  "books never written" and "smokey the bear" worksheets and writing an expression on the blue index card that was provided.  quiz was returned.  quiz on expressions this coming Tuesday.

math 6:  quiz tomorrow...on solving equaitons with multiplication and division.  Help at 8:25.  Study "MS. margarine" type of problems....and also complete the assigned problems on the back side of "Ms. Margarine".

math 6/7:  finish "mr. and mrs. number" and "scissors" ws...be sure to write the expression next to the exercise !

math 6:  complete the "ms. margarine" ws, doing your work in your spiral, using the folded format (show work on one side).  You only need to check your work for the top half of the worksheet.  There's a mini-quiz on this material on Friday, and our unit test on equations is next Wednesday.

math 6/7:  we had a quiz on equations today.  homework is the "Mr. and Mrs. Number" ws; write the mathematical expression next to the exercise itself.

math 6:  students turned in some wonderful looking calendars today!  We had a quiz.  homework:  choose four boxes of problems to solve on the mini "tv show" worksheet.  also, had a quiz returned. 

math 6/7:  a quiz was returned.  we learned how to solve equations that have variables on both sides.  homework:  "what is the title" ws and "super star" ws (show work in your spiral)  There will be a quiz next Wed.
